Make a Difference in San Carlos: Join Day of Service on September 12, 2026
Community spirit comes alive in San Carlos this September as residents are invited to roll up their sleeves and make a meaningful difference during Day of Service on September 12, 2026. This special volunteer event offers two wonderful opportunities to help beautify local parks, strengthen connections among neighbors, and create a lasting positive impact on the community.
Whether you have a green thumb, enjoy spending time outdoors, or simply want to give back to the place you call home, Day of Service is a perfect opportunity to get involved. Volunteers will be able to choose between two projects: planting two new trees at Highlands Park or creating a native garden at Vista Park. Both projects are designed to enhance the natural beauty of San Carlos while contributing to healthier and more welcoming public spaces.
Plant New Trees at Highlands Park
One of the volunteer opportunities will take place at Highlands Park, where participants will help plant two new trees. Trees are an important part of any community. They provide shade, improve the appearance of public spaces, support local wildlife, and contribute to a healthier environment.
Planting a tree may seem like a simple task, but its impact can last for decades. The trees planted during Day of Service will become part of the landscape and can be enjoyed by residents, families, and visitors for years to come. Volunteers will have the rewarding experience of knowing that their hands helped create something that will continue benefiting the community long after the event has ended.
This project is also a great way for neighbors to work together outdoors. From preparing the planting area to placing the trees and helping them get established, every helping hand can make a difference.
Create a Native Garden at Vista Park
The second volunteer opportunity will take place at Vista Park, where participants will help create a native garden. Native plants are an excellent addition to community landscapes because they are naturally adapted to the local environment and can provide valuable habitat and food sources for birds, butterflies, bees, and other wildlife.
A native garden can also add beauty and character to the park while encouraging greater appreciation for the natural environment. By participating in this project, volunteers will help establish a space that can continue to grow and flourish as part of San Carlos’s community landscape.
The garden project is a wonderful opportunity for people who enjoy gardening or simply want to learn more about plants and sustainable landscaping. Most importantly, it gives volunteers the chance to work side by side with their neighbors toward a shared goal.
Connect With Your Community
Day of Service is about more than planting trees and creating gardens. It is also about bringing people together. Community volunteer events provide an opportunity to meet neighbors, build friendships, and develop a stronger connection to the place where we live.
Sometimes, making a difference begins with something as simple as showing up and offering a helping hand. By volunteering for a few hours, participants can contribute to projects that improve shared public spaces while enjoying a positive experience with others in the community.
For registered volunteers, coffee and donuts will be available, providing a welcoming way to start the morning and connect with fellow participants before or during the service activities.
Register for Day of Service
If you would like to participate, make sure to register for a volunteer shift through Better Impact. Registration is required, and volunteers can select the opportunity that best suits them.
The event will take place on September 12, 2026, at Highlands Park and Vista Park in San Carlos. Whether you choose to help plant trees or create a native garden, your contribution will be valuable.
Day of Service is a reminder that strong communities are built by people who care enough to get involved. Every tree planted, every native plant added, and every hour volunteered helps make San Carlos a more beautiful, connected, and environmentally friendly place.
Gather your neighbors, invite your friends, and come lend a hand. On September 12, take part in Day of Service and help create a lasting impact in San Carlos—one project, one garden, and one tree at a time.
