Town Restaurant’s Superb American Cuisines
Set in the historical Tivoli building, Town Restaurant features Regional American Cuisine with locally sourced wood-fired rotisserie chicken, hand-cut steaks, and fresh seafood.
Our sister company, Rancho Alena Cattle Co. raises Purebred Black Angus cross cattle exclusively for Avenir Restaurant Group. Our beverage program offers classic and proprietary handcrafted cocktails and a robust selection of West Coast wine and beer.
On Father’s Day 2005, we were awoken by the San Carlos Fire Department. After 10 successful years in San Carlos, our restaurant A Tavola was gone. Rather than giving up, we were inspired to create something new from the ashes. One year later, Town opened.
While the concept was completely transformed, our core philosophies remained unchanged: we are dedicated to going above and beyond to make our customers happy, and we believe in being a strong part of the communities where we do business.
This commitment to service does not stop in the restaurant; we believe in strong community involvement. Whether it’s a school fundraiser, local charity, or national effort, Avenir Restaurant Group will be lending a hand or leading the way.
Our tag line – “Eat and Drink American” – means a lot to our team. We serve premium steaks and chops, local seafood, handcrafted cocktails, and a wine list that features vineyards from California, Oregon, and Washington.
We partner with purveyors who have the same philosophy regarding farming, feeding, and the treatment of animals.
We raise a portion of our own cattle on our ranch in the Sierra foothills (RanchoAlena.com) – 100% Black Angus, pasture-raised, and finished using our own special blend of barley, hops, molasses, corn and cherries. After 30 days of dry aging, the result is some of the finest meat available anywhere. Our remaining cuts come from a boutique purveyor who only partners with the finest ranchers.
Our produce comes from the abundant farms in Salinas and the Central Valley. Our seafood is locally and seasonally sourced. Our poultry comes from Pitnam Farms. We believe they are the finest in the state. Their poultry is cage fee, hormone free and they are part of the Global Animal Partnership.
Our beverage program utilizes American small-batch distilleries and breweries. Fresh squeezed juices, house made syrups, shrubs, and purees round out our ever changing seasonal bar program.
We are proud of our American partnerships, and we hope you appreciate our approach.
Cheers!

We went to Town San Carlos on the suggestion of a friend. We had no expectations, but the joint was busy, so we thought that that was a good sign! First off, the staff was friendly, efficient, communicative (we had to wait a few minutes) and professional. Town San Carlos is a bit of an upscale sports bar. I’m not usually a fan of TV’s in a restaurant, but it works here, the way they have them set up. (and besides the Niners were playing the (nameless) Silver and Black. The game was a bit of a back and forth, with patrons enthusiastic, but not overly so, allowing us to enjoy our meal, some conversation, and the game highlights out of the corner of our eye.
The booths were very comfortable and firm enough to keep your dinner posture good, and not tiring. The booth appointments were a classic tone and style. Loved ’em.
Our waiter, Nick, is a star! He was right on top of the “Bottomless Mimosa”, and anticipated every Bloody Mary we needed! All with a smile, and a couple of tips on what’s popular, and delicious!
We started with the Philly Cheesesteak Rolls, an inspired rendition of the flavors of Philly, and the crispy egg roll wraps from San Francisco. Yum!
We had the Chicken and Waffles, a favorite we’re told, and we could see why. Crispy Chicken, and a waffle with crunch on the outside and a pillowy middle. The only thing that would have made it perfect would be spicy Honey or Spicy Maple Syrup.
Another hit was the Shaken Beef. A twist on the classic Vietnamese beef dish, with big juicy chunks of meat, and salad elements that, along with a bed of rice, make this one dish a meal-in-one. An at-the-desk classic perfect for take out, or take home.
I want to revisit the drinks a minute. The Mimosas were not overly sweet. That’s a sign of quality sparkling wine (even if it’s not haute), and fresh OJ that makes the bottomless option a no-brainer. The star cocktail at our table was the Bloody Mary. It’s a hand crafted version of what is too often made without panache. It was just the right level of spicy; not boring , not biting.
The Grand Finale was a Bread Budding perfect for the three of us, sublime for two, and challenging for one. It came with a generous scoop of fine vanilla bean ice cream, and a Bourbon Sauce that had us dueling with our spoons at the end. Bravo!

We have not been to Town in many years but we had a gift card that was burning a hole in my wallet and our good friends did too so easy choice! Town has a wonderful outside dining setup which, even though it was quite cold out, was very comfortable. Service was great and the food was delicious.
I had the ahi and it was excellent. Hubby has the 8oz steak and said it was one of the best he has had in years. Our friends loved their dinner as well. We also had sides of spinach and garlic string beans plus split a Caesar salad.
We will definitely try to come back sooner and highly recommend Town.

Whoa! Such a solid consistent dining experience. Was treated to dinner by my oldest son. My son and I shared a bone-in rib eye (an excellent value for the quality and size) and I added a Caesar. Cheesy Garlic bread as an app was delicious! Sides were creamed spinach and a baked potato. My other son had the meat loaf but I wasn’t impressed and a bit disappointed. Glad I stuck with the rib eye. And the chimichurri sauce with the rib eye was an excellent accompaniment. We shared two desserts among the 3 of us. Dessert included their popular bread pudding and the butter cake. Both were tastybut put me over the top. Even though the rib eye was shared I left feeling overly stuffed! (My fault…. Again). Service was solid and friendly. Town is still one of my favorite all around restaurants!

Note that they do not take reservations and all tables are first come first serve basis!
Visited on a Wednesday night to celebrate my birthday! They said it would be a 30 min wait for 2 people but the wait time was probably only 15 minutes. We were seated outside in a booth and they have the heat lamps for when it gets chilly.
Ordered the NY steak with mac n cheese and mushrooms as my sides. Also got the terriyaki skirt steak which came with green beens, mashed potatoes and fried onions! Everything was very tasty and i would definitely go back for the ny steak, mashed potatoes, and fried onions. The terriyaki skirt steak was good but not what i wanted in the moment. There were many side options to choose from like a massive baked potato that looked delicious!
Server was lovely and gave me a complimentary bread pudding for my birthday which i really appreciated that restaurants still do that! But let me tell you that was THE BEST BREAD PUDDING EVERRRRRR i wish i saved more room for it! I will get it with ice cream next time!
Bottom line, I would 10000% come back here because it was YUMMMM!

One of the best places to dine at HANDS DOWN. Everything we had was delicious. Good ambiance and great service, EXCELLENT FOOD. I could go on but I’ll just share pics because it’s definitely worth MORE than a 1,000 words. Do make your way to Town in San Carlos. 5 stars.

Visited a couple weeks ago. Food, drinks and dessert were on point. The service was great! It was busy like always, wait was about 1 hr. They got us seated 20 mins early which was nice. Really good vibe inside with good lighting.
I split the Mary’s chicken plate in half which is best practice at this point. Still had leftovers! Espresso martini was really good per usual. Their pear martini is another fav of mine. We split the 6 layer chocolate cake, very nice and fluffy moist cake with chocolate dressing but not too rich, just right! It comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, which is the perfect pairing with it. Love TOWN, they do things right.

This is our go-to spot for drinks in San Carlos. The food is also phenomenal, but we don’t eat huge steak dinners as frequently as we drink. The espresso martini is the best in the Bay Area. Also look out for the spicy margarita-esque drink that they offer in certain seasons.
As for the food, you cannot go wrong with the ribeye. In addition, the creamy cheesy garlic bread and the wedge salad are both amazing starters. The loaded potato is great – I usually just take it home to munch on the next day.
As for the wait, put your name down for a dinner table while you grab a drink or two at the bar.
