This isn’t your typical breadmaking class. Hosted at the Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company, this fun and informative session invites you to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on with bread dough, made from spent grain — the leftover grains from the brewing process. The concept of using spent grain in baking is not only eco-friendly but results in rich, hearty, and flavorful bread that will delight your taste buds.
During the class, you will make Grainbakers Spent Grain Artisan Bread Dough, and then customize it with a variety of flavors to create your own signature loaf. Whether you like sweet, savory, or something in between, there’s a flavor for every palate. Choose from options like UBE Purple Sweet Potato, Cinnamon Raisin, Tomato Basil, and even a fun Everything Bagel option. You’ll also have choices like Cranberry Walnut, Rosemary & Sea Salt, Dark Chocolate & Cherry, and Cheddar, Jalapeño & Bacon to experiment with. For those who want to get even more creative, feel free to BYO inclusions, such as frozen fruit or fancy cheese, to further personalize your bread.
But this class isn’t just about baking; it’s about the full experience. With a bread-and-butter sampling, you’ll have a chance to taste some freshly baked bread while you work your dough. You’ll also receive a recipe and instruction guide so you can recreate the artisan bread at home.
Once your dough is ready, you’ll be able to take it home for its first rise and finish the baking process at your leisure. Don’t worry – you’ll also be given extra spent grain for your freezer, along with additional recipes so you can keep baking and experimenting with new flavors in the future.
