The Exciting Mary Poppins Community Show with the San Carlos Children’s Theater
A Spoonful of Magic is Coming to San Carlos: Mary Poppins Community Show Hits the Stage This May!
Grab your umbrellas (and maybe your chimney sweep hat), because something supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is blowing into town this spring! The San Carlos Children’s Theater (SCCT) is putting on a magical community production of Mary Poppins, and the excitement is sky-high—just like Mary herself.
With help from the San Carlos Parks & Rec Centennial Committee, this enchanting musical will fly onto the stage at Mustang Hall (828 Chestnut St.) for four performances only, running May 23–25. Featuring a heartwarming mix of talented local kids and adults, this show promises songs you love, dancing statues, penguins in bowties, and that famous flying nanny who teaches everyone that “Anything can happen if you let it.”

Who’s Who in Cherry Tree Lane
This year’s cast features two magical lineups: the Sugar Cast (Friday/Saturday matinee) and the Spoonful Cast (Saturday evening/Sunday). From tap-dancing Bert to practically-perfect Mary, Jane & Michael Banks, and an ensemble of kites, toys, bankers, and birds—it’s a whole whimsical village of characters you’ll fall in love with.

Rehearsals and Behind-the-Scenes Magic
The cast is already busy rehearsing at SCCT Studio in Belmont, gearing up for a whirlwind of dancing, singing, and chimney sweeping. Want to be part of the backstage buzz? Volunteers are needed for props, sets, costumes, stage crew, greenroom, musicians, and more. (Mary Poppins may fly in, but those sets don’t build themselves!)
Get Involved
- Youth Cast Ages 10-17: Registration is open with a $575 early bird fee (before Feb 15), $650 after. 15 hours of parent participation are required, with limited buyouts available.
- Adult Cast (18+): Suggested donation of $150 plus 15 volunteer hours.
- Volunteers: Sign up to help bring the magic to life!
