New Businesses in San Carlos CA: Doppio Zero

It’s a busy past couple of months in San Carlos! A lot of new popular restaurant chains have been recently been opening in Laurel Street, which means new exciting culinary experiences for people in San Carlos.

Let’s welcome first, Doppio Zero  – a bar, pizzeria and southern Italian restaurant that offers traditional Italian dishes, homemade pastas, and renowned Neapolitan pizzas. The restaurant provides a warm and lively family atmosphere, making it an authentic Italian dining experience.

Doppio Zero in San Carlos is actually the fourth Bay Area location for the pizzeria chain. Gianni Chiloiro and Angelo Sannino, the founders,  plan to open a fifth eatery in downtown Campbell this autumn.

The San Carlos establishment, which began operating on June 16 in the former Otra Vez Mexican Kitchen (with space of 3,000 sq. feet), offers almost identical food options to the other locations but boasts a complete selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. The mixologist from Vida, another restaurant chain owned by Chiloiri and Sannino, created the cocktail menu for the San Carlos site, which Gianni Chiloiro claims is superior to any other location.

Doppio Zero offers Neapolitan pizzas and homemade pastas. The pizza dough is made with very little yeast, resulting in a 72-hour rising time. The restaurant has a moderate pricing strategy and a pleasant atmosphere that attracts a diverse clientele.

The owner, Chiloiro, plans to open another location between San Carlos and San Francisco next year due to the positive response to the restaurant’s concept.

Gianni, who was born and brought up in Taranto, Italy, moved to San Francisco in 1980. He has been in the dining industry for over 40 years and has established several restaurants in the Bay Area such as Gradimento, Medioevo, and Pasta?. Additionally, he served as the President of GDS Foods from 1995 to 2002. In collaboration with Angelo Sannino, Gianni founded Doppio Zero in 2014.

Angelo was born and brought up in Naples, Italy but moved to San Francisco in 2002. He has worked as a manager at various upscale restaurants such as Il Pastaio located in Beverly Hills and Trattoria Dell’Arte in New York City. Along with his business partner Gianni Chiloiro, Angelo established Doppio Zero in 2014.
