About the Artist
Joyce Faulknor is a watercolorist and author whose work has been featured in numerous publications, including American Artist Watercolor, where they were showcased on the front cover. Her art has also been published in Watercolor Magic, The Artist’s Magazine, North Light’s Splash 8 – Watercolor Discoveries, and Splash 10 – Passionate Brush Strokes, as well as in the recent publication “Stunning Crystal and Glass” by North Light Books.
Additionally, she has have produced a DVD video titled “Stunning Crystal and Glass”. Joyce co-host an award-winning instructional television program called “Art 2 Art”, which can be viewed here.
In 1987, Joyce attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she focused on illustration. During her time at the Academy of Art, she discovered a passion for watercolor and transitioned to becoming a full-time watercolorist and instructor. From 1991 to 2001, Joyce operated her own art school, “Emerald Lake Art Academy”, in Redwood City, California.
In 2002, she concentrated on developing a new watercolor technique, painting from dark to light. She found that her students thrived on this unique approach and observed their paintings developing more rapidly.
