Cask Annual Free Thanksgiving Meal
Giving Thanks at The Cask: Free Thanksgiving Meal and a Community Table Open to All
The Cask Wine and Cheese Bar is once again leaning fully into the heart of the holiday season by opening its doors for a complimentary Thanksgiving meal. It’s a tradition rooted in generosity, led by Kemal Kurt and his family, who have made it a mission to ensure that no one in San Carlos has to face the holiday alone or without a warm meal.
This year’s community meal will take place Thursday, November 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Cask’s Laurel Street location. The invitation is simple: if you need a place to go, a plate to enjoy, or a moment of connection, you’re welcome.
A Holiday Table That Wraps Around the Community
Not everyone has a home filled with family on Thanksgiving, and not everyone has the means to prepare a holiday meal. For years, the Cask team has bridged that gap by creating a space where people can step in from the day’s chill, sit down, and be served a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at no cost.
Who’s It For?
The short answer: anyone who needs it.
The event is designed with struggling or isolated community members in mind, but the invitation isn’t limited. The Cask’s philosophy is that a shared table can lift anyone’s spirits, and that the holiday is better when those who show up are welcomed with the same warmth and dignity as any paying customer.
Volunteers are part of the tradition too. Those who spend the day helping prepare and serve meals are treated to the same Thanksgiving dinner, adding to the sense of shared purpose.
Donations Welcome, Never Required
The meal is entirely free, and donations are appreciated but never expected. Contributions from the community help sustain the tradition so it can continue each year, covering holiday staples and supporting the hands needed to make it all happen.

A Small Gesture With a Big Impact
Thanksgiving tends to magnify both the warmth and the weight of the season. If you know someone who could use a place to go this Thanksgiving, point them toward Laurel Street. If you’d like to support the effort, donations are welcome. And if you just need a warm plate and good company, there will be a seat for you.
