United Against Hate Week

Throughout the whole week San Carlos will celebrate “United Against Hate” Week by hosting different events all across town to promote anti-bullying. This includes events like upstander training for young people, parenting seminars, open mics, and forum discussions

Other Events

The Generation Buddies Series by the ACC launches this week with a Bingo Night for our seniors and young people alike tonight. Also tonight is the Downtown Specific Plan + Streetscape Master Plan public meeting at the City Hall, where plans for downtown renovation will be finalized. Tomorrow, a Town Hall Meeting with Police Chief Mark Myers happens at the library, 6PM, to discuss traffic rules and recent crime trends. The Alexandria hosts the 6th Annual Women, Wine, and Wellness Expo on Thursday. On the weekend, Saturday, we have the student showcase of Ascend Aerial Arts, entitled Unfolding.

United Against Hate Week 2024: Teacher Appreciation at Reach and Teach

Place: Reach and Teach

The Reach And Teach Bookshop team invites local teachers to participate in the United Against Hate - Teacher Appreciation Program. Enjoy complimentary food and beverages, explore displays of books and resources on inclusion and anti-bullying, and try out cooperative games, including the Goodbye Bully Machine game. There will also be fun giveaways!

Exciting Family Bingo Night: Generation Buddies Series

Place: San Carlos Adult Community Center

A lively series of bingo games with exciting prizes up for grabs! Afterward, participants will sit down together for a family-style dinner, featuring a delicious menu of classic Caesar salad, garlic bread, hearty pasta bolognese, and decadent chocolate mousse for dessert.

The City Council is scheduled to receive presentation on refined street designs and key findings from the traffic operations and parking demand studies as part of the Downtown Specific Plan + Streetscape Master Plan project.

As parents, we all want our children to stand up for what's right. It’s important for them to take action when they witness bullying, belittling, or any form of unkind behavior. While we can model kindness and respectful conversation, what should they do when they encounter a bully themselves? These Upstander Training workshops are designed to equip our youth with the tools to recognize bullying and respond as confident Upstanders.
