The wait is over – Impasto San Carlos’ Grand Opening happens Tuesday next week! Expect something special when you come over!
Grand Opening
According to an Instagram post from their official account, Impasto will open on the 6th of August. This much anticipated Neapolitan-style pizzeria is the latest from the team behind Palo Alto’s beloved Terún and iTalico.
Terún has achieved remarkable success over the past several years – voted “Top 7 of America’s Most Authentic Neapolitan-Style Pizzerias” by the Food Network and a favorite of Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Jeff Bezos (Amazon), Andrè Borschberg (co-founder of the solar-powered plane), Oprah Winfrey (TV presenter, actress, and philanthropist), Lance Armstrong, Bob Roll (former professional cyclist), and Federico Faggin (physicist and inventor of the microprocessor)… “The list of people who have changed the world and enjoyed dining at Terún and iTalico is long,” says Maico Campilongo, one of the owners.
The team looks forward to continuing to serve their food to many more Silicon Valley residents. Franco Campilongo, another one of the owners, mentioned that they had initially hoped to open in San Carlos by the end of 2023. Despite facing some delays, the team is excited to finally bring their exquisite menu to the City of Good Living.

Alongside Franco and Maico, the ownership also includes Kristjan D’Angelo and Giuseppe Errico. While the menu at Impasto will closely mirror that of Terún, there are menu items and varieties of pizza that are unique to San Carlos. Guests can look forward to pizzas with dough made from the traditional “00” Caputo Flour and Caputo Cuor di Cereali. Caputo is an Italian brand well-known for its high-quality flours, particularly the “00” flour, which is often used in traditional Neapolitan pizza making. The brand is based in Naples, Italy, and has a long history of producing premium flours. In addition to these, Impasto will also offer gluten-free pizza and pasta.

The decision to expand to San Carlos was influenced by the realization that many of Terún’s loyal customers travel from the north and would appreciate a more accessible location. Located near the Caltrain station at 661 El Camino Real, Impasto will be welcoming guests to a wonderful and relaxed dining experience, with a full bar and an outdoor patio.
