Latest Update with the San Carlos Centennial Celebrations
San Carlos is gearing up for a year-long Centennial Celebration this coming 2025, with July 8 as the exact date than San Carlos turns 100. While more events and projects are on their way, here are some of the ones the City has already announced in the Centennial Hub of San Carlos:
- Historical Markers: In 2025, San Carlos will feature historic markers around town, each highlighting significant sites with brief descriptions and QR codes for more in-depth information on the Centennial website.
- StoryCorps: The City of San Carlos is teaming up with StoryCorps to create an audio-visual keepsake featuring personal stories from residents, with interviewee recruitment starting in January on the Centennial website.
- “Agents of Discovery” Augmented Reality Challenge: The Youth Advisory Council has designed monthly Centennial missions with unique challenges, each set in different popular San Carlos parks or destinations. It is your job to accomplish the mission using the app “Agents of Discovery”, which will be made available for download soon.
- Centennial Focus of Annual Events: Next year, various events such as the Week of the Family, ACC Luncheons, Hometown Days, Youth Center Dance, Camps, will have the San Carlos Centennial as the main theme. These could mean “going back in time” motifs, celebrating Centenarians, and others.
