Get ready to ride in style and creativity! SamTrans is thrilled to host its annual ‘Art Takes a Bus Ride’ Celebration, a special event dedicated to showcasing the artistic talents of local students. Please join us on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, for an afternoon filled with inspiration, community pride, and the unveiling of student artwork that will soon grace SamTrans buses across the Peninsula.
This beloved community event honors the winners of the 2025 ‘Art Takes a Bus Ride’ competition — a long-standing partnership between SamTrans and local schools that encourages youth to express themselves through visual art, all while promoting public transportation and environmental awareness.
About this Event
This year’s event will be held at SamTrans Headquarters, located at 1250 San Carlos Avenue, San Carlos, just a short walk from the San Carlos Caltrain station. Street parking is available for those arriving by car.
The celebration kicks off at 3:30pm sharp, when the student winners will be officially presented to the SamTrans Board. These students, selected for their outstanding artwork, will be recognized in front of community leaders, educators, family, and friends. Attendees are encouraged to arrive between 2:50 and 3:20pm to ensure they are seated before the board presentation begins.
Following the recognition ceremony, guests will have the opportunity to view the students’ artwork as it’s proudly displayed on a full-sized SamTrans bus. This is the moment where imagination meets motion — where student creativity quite literally takes a ride across San Mateo County.
After the unveiling, the celebration continues with light refreshments, gifts for the artists, and plenty of photo opportunities with the winning students and their rolling masterpieces.
