The City of San Carlos and City of Belmont are excited to collaborate by hosting the Teen Wellness Retreat for teens grades 6-12! The Teen Wellness Retreat is a one day event for teens to destress and refresh their mental health and well-being through various workshops and self-care activities. The day will include breakfast, lunch, boba, a resource fair, raffles, and giveaways, all for FREE! The Teen Wellness Retreat is a unglue event that will provide teens with the space to unwind, rejuvenate, and prioritize their mental health. In the midst of the challenges and demands of teenage life, it’s crucial to take a break and invest in your mental health.
The retreat offers a blend of workshop sessions, self-care activities, self-discovery, and delicious food to fuel your body throughout the day. Not to mention, there will be swag and giveaways for you to take home and enjoy!
We hope that all attendees leave the event feeling refreshed and confident to take on any challenges thrown their way!

Registration is open to teens grades 6-12 and limited to 100 participants. We cannot accommodate day-of registrations.

Create your own narrative by choosing which workshop you would like to attend during each of the three workshop sessions. No matter what workshop you choose, they will all be entertaining, interactive, and teach you something new!
Workshop topics include, but are not limited to, mindfulness, organization, and self-care. While each workshop is led by a different community organization, they all have one thing in common: creating a deeper understanding of how to achieve your very own wellness!

In this interactive session on time management. teens will explore effective strategies to prioritize tasks, set realistic goals, and overcome common challenges in managing their time. Through practical tips. self-care strategies. and engaging discussions, attendees will gain valuable insights to enhance their productivity and achieve a better balance in their day-to-day life.

In this interactive workshop youth will be able to explore. understand, and more clearly define their own identities and sense of self. Youth will also be able to share with and learn from others to develop an understanding of how Identity and Community can impact wellness. The workshop aims to get youth doing as much as learning, and participants will walk away with a self-determined representation of who they are.

Teens will use art therapy as an outlet for any emotions they feel they want to express in art. The activity will allow them to use their creative energy in a calming outdoor environment with peers.

#GFM is a peer-mentoring campaign dedicated to uplifting youth wisdom and experiences around social media engagement and the impacts it can have on youth mental health. In this workshop co-facilitated by our youth advisors, we’ll explore the importance in centering youth voice in this work, have discussions around the effect of social media on our daily lives, share youth-created resources, and walk away with strategies to mindfully engage with these platforms.

This is an engaging workshop that goes beyond traditional presentations, actively involving participants in activities addressing media influence on body image. From creating positive affirmations to critiquing photoshopped media, exploring self-care strategies, and crafting personalized digital wellness plans, this interactive session empowers individuals to navigate the complexities of modern body image challenges with resilience and confidence. The workshop also sheds light on eating disorders. connecting them to media impacts while providing guidance to participants to help them recognize signs and seek help.

Peninsula Humane Society/SPCA will be onsite with their therapy dogs. These four-legged friends are here to provide a safe space for emotional expression, stress relief, and the joy of unconditional companionship. Please do not bring any food with you while visiting with the dogs.

Teens should bring themselves and an open mind! Everything you will need throughout the day will be provided. We recommend leaving anything that may be distracting at home as this is an opportunity to unplug and reset!
Yes, due to demand and to get the best overall experience from the retreat, we require participants to attend the whole event. Additionally, for safety purposes, there will be no come-and-go privilege’s.
Teens will check-in for the event in the San Carlos Youth Center Lobby and will be expected to stay on-site for the duration of the event. For safety purposes, there will be no come-and-go privileges. During the event, if you need to leave early for any reason, please speak to a staff member on-site who will assist you with contacting your guardian to sign you out of the event.
