Is your child hesitant to pick up a book? Enroll them for a personalized reading session with a therapy dog at the library.
Research indicates that children, who may feel uneasy reading in the presence of their peers, experience significantly less anxiety when accompanied by an animal. Animals are perceived as non-judgmental, and reading to them fosters confidence in young readers. A special thanks to our partners, the Pet Assisted Therapy teams and their handlers from the Peninsula Humane Society & the SPCA’s Paws for Tales program, for making this enriching experience possible.
Registration is required and space is limited, so register early for your 10-minute slot at smcl.org/pawsfortales.
