Interesting Mosaic Pumpkin Workshop at Art Bias
Create Your Own Mosaic Pumpkin with Barbara Bussler of Black Bear Mosaics!
This October, immerse yourself in the art of mosaic making at Art Bias in San Carlos with a special Mosaic Pumpkin Workshop taught by the talented Barbara Bussler of Black Bear Mosaics. Whether you’re new to mosaics or have some experience, this three-part workshop is the perfect opportunity to create a stunning mosaic pumpkin that will become a cherished holiday heirloom for years to come.
During the workshop, you’ll be introduced to the Pique Assiette style of mosaics, using a mix of new and recycled materials to craft your pumpkin. Barbara will guide you through every step of the process, from learning how to use common mosaic tools to adding your own personal touches. If you have broken ceramics—such as plates or mugs—you’re welcome to bring them along to incorporate into your creation (just no broken glass bottles, though stained glass is fine!).

Service Description
In this workshop you will be introduced to all the steps of completing a basic mosaic, and you will learn how to use the most common mosaic tools.
We will work in the direct method and use new and recycled materials (Pique Assiette style). Bring your own if you have some broken plates or mugs or any ceramics. No broken glass bottles please, but stained glass is okay.
All materials as listed are included:
– one 6×6″ 3D craft pumpkin
– a fast selection of ceramic and glass tiles and other appropriate mosaic materials
– all other materials needed to finish one mosaic pumpkin
– artist’s apron, safety gloves and safety glasses (if you don’t wear prescription glasses)
Duration
- Day 1: 3 hrs on Friday evening 10/4/24 – 6pm to 9pm
- Day 2: 6 hrs on Saturday 10/5/24 – 9am – 4pm
- Day 3: 2.5 hrs on Monday morning 10/7/24 – 9:30am to noon
On the Saturday bring a lunch/snack if you want to make best use of the time.
No mosaic knowledge is required for this class but it is helpful due to the challenge of working in 3D.
If you have any questions about the course dates please contact me. The first two sessions are about learning, creating your design and adhering it onto the pumpkin, Monday is reserved for grouting.

To reserve your spot a down payment of $50 is required. The remaining amount can be payed either by check (preferred), cash or by credit card before we start class on Friday evening.
