Calling all grown-ups who still dream of joining the circus (minus the acrobatics, plus a lot more laughs)! The Improv Comedy Camp II: A Circus of Creative Arts is back under the world’s tiniest big top—and trust us, you won’t want to miss this ride.
Led by the hilarious and delightfully unhinged Terry Sand, aka Madame Shinsplintski, this four-week adult summer camp blends improv comedy with circus-style absurdity, pathetic puppetry, and behind-the-scenes drama you won’t even need a script for. Absolutely no skills required—just a willingness to let go and laugh.

Fee: $250 for 4 weeks (includes all props and art supplies)

Terry Sand is a Bay Area gem, blending visual art with improv chaos to create characters so odd you’ll swear they exist. Her alter ego, Madame Shinsplintski, heads up the fictitious and fabulously unstable Shinsplintsky Family Circus—a theatrical madhouse that first wowed San Francisco with its cast of dysfunctional performers like:
- Anita Date – a high wire act who’s afraid of heights
- Sally Jesse Feeling Swell – a chiropractor with no license but lots of flair
- Victoria Vargas – a psychic who’s mostly confused
- Monsieur Monterey – a spy with an identity crisis
If your idea of a perfect Saturday involves laughter, weirdness, and bonding with other joyful misfits, this camp might just be your main event.
