Celebrating History Through Art: Centennial Mural Presentation at Art Bias
As San Carlos proudly marks its 100th anniversary, the city is coming together in vibrant and meaningful ways to celebrate its rich past. One of the most exciting creative tributes to this milestone is the upcoming Centennial Mural Presentation, hosted by Art Bias. This special one-hour event will unveil the vision behind a colorful and historical pavement mural to be painted on Laurel Street—bringing the city’s history right to the heart of the community.

🎨 About the Event
The Centennial Mural Presentation is part of the larger 100th Anniversary Celebration taking place throughout the city. Thanks to a Centennial Grant awarded by the City of San Carlos, local nonprofit art organization Art Bias is taking the lead in designing and executing a beautiful pavement mural that reflects the diverse history, spirit, and growth of the city over the past century.
Scheduled for Monday, June 30 at 6:00 PM, this informative session will take place in Studio 114 at Art Bias, a creative hub that has long supported local artists and community arts initiatives. This event is open to the public with FREE admission, but space is limited to 25 attendees, so registration is required.

🖌️ What to Expect
The event promises an engaging, behind-the-scenes look at how this community-driven artwork is coming to life. You’ll hear from the talented artists behind the project: Deb Shea, Shari Bryant, and Amber Smith. These creative minds will walk attendees through their design process, including:

Ways the community can get involved in this meaningful public art project
This is a unique opportunity not only to learn about a major art installation but also to ask questions and see the visuals that will soon decorate a key street in downtown San Carlos. The mural is more than just decoration—it’s a legacy piece that celebrates where the city has been and where it’s headed.
🧑🎨 Why It Matters
Public art plays a vital role in uniting communities, sparking conversation, and reflecting shared identities. This Centennial Mural is no exception. By incorporating San Carlos’s rich heritage into a visual storytelling format, the mural will invite residents and visitors alike to pause, reflect, and take pride in the community’s journey.
The artists, all connected with Art Bias, are committed to inclusivity and community collaboration. They have worked thoughtfully to represent key moments and icons from San Carlos’s 100-year history. The mural will be a lasting tribute—one that adds character to the city while honoring its legacy.

🥂 Light Refreshments & Thanks
To make the event even more welcoming, light refreshments will be served. A big thank-you goes out to Sigona’s Farmers Market for their generous donation, helping ensure a warm and delicious reception for all attendees.
