Free Telescope Viewing At Crestview Park: Star Parties by the San Mateo Astronomical Society
Free Telescope Viewing: Ready to meet a couple of true giants?
Join us this Saturday, November 22 at Crestview Park in San Carlos for a relaxed night under the stars. Saturn will be showing off early, and Jupiter will rise to the occasion later in the evening around 10:40pm.
We’ll have several telescopes set up for everyone to explore not just these two showstoppers, but also nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters that are a real crowd-pleaser.
A quick favor that keeps the stargazing sharp:
Please don’t drive into the park with your headlights on. Bright beams make it tough for everyone’s eyes to adjust and can interfere with the telescopes.
Instead, park along Crestview Drive and enjoy the easy 20-yard stroll into the park. Your night vision will thank you.
This free event is brought to you by the San Mateo County Astronomical Society with support from San Carlos Parks and Recreation. It’s great for curious minds from about age 7 to 107.
A few ground rules so we all have a stellar time:
• No pets
• Keep an eye on kids
• No running, jumping, food, or ball games near the telescopes
• Think of the telescope area as a “no-gravity-defying-antics zone”
Come for the planets, stay for the cosmic wonders, and leave with a universe of new stories.
