Fake Cake, Real Fun: Learn to Pipe Like a Pro with Soleil
Alright sweet tooths and crafty hands—this one’s for you (even if you’re more into glue than ganache).
Fake Cake 101: Heart Mirror is coming to San Carlos on Monday, July 28, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and it’s serving up a whole lot of frosting vibes with zero calories. Artist Soleil is teaching kids and teens how to turn an ordinary mirror into a delicious-looking faux dessert using lifelike frosting techniques and pro-level piping.
The goal? Fool your friends into thinking your mirror belongs in a bakery window. Bonus: it doubles as super cute room decor.

It’s part of the Summer Adventure series at the San Carlos Library, and it’s happening in the Teen Corner. Perfect for kids aged 6 and up, though if you’re under 9, you’ll need your grown-up buddy to stick around.
Soleil will walk you through different frosting materials (yes, there’s more than one way to fake a cake), and teach the basics of decorating—no experience needed, just bring your imagination and maybe a sweet playlist in your head.
This one’s for the artsy kids, the crafty teens, and anyone who’s ever watched a cake decorating video at 2AM and thought, I could totally do that.
Pro tip: Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little “frosted”—even if it’s fake, it’s still messy fun.
