Digitizing and Documenting Your Family History: Family History Workshop with Ron Chan in San Carlos

Got a box of old photos, family stories passed down over dinner, or that one great-aunt who swears your great-grandfather was royalty? It’s time to turn those memories into something that lasts.

On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 11:00AM to 1:00PM, join us at the San Carlos Library (2nd Floor Community Room) for an eye-opening session: Digitizing and Documenting Your Family History.

Led by the inspiring Ron Chan—an internationally known genealogy speaker, author, and passionate storyteller—you’ll learn how to use modern tools (including artificial intelligence, no less!) to capture, organize, and share your family’s journey.

What You’ll Learn (and Love):

  • How to scan and restore old photos (yes, even that sun-faded wedding portrait!)
  • Tips for managing digital memories—photos, videos, and more
  • How to use AI to help with oral history creation and storytelling
  • Movie-making magic to turn your family stories into something binge-worthy
  • Free resources and best practices to build your own digital family heritage library

Whether you’re already knee-deep in ancestry charts or just starting to piece together your roots, this workshop offers practical, inspiring ways to preserve your family’s legacy—and make it shine for the next generation.

Who’s it for?

Adults 19+, especially those 55+ who’ve got stories to tell (and maybe a grandkid or two who should hear them). The class is conducted in English, and no tech experience is needed—just curiosity and a love of family stories.

Space is limited, and with Ron Chan at the helm, spots are sure to go fast. So go ahead and register early—your family’s future storytellers will thank you.
