Generation Buddies Beaded Craft Night ACC

Join us for Beaded Craft Night at Generation Buddies, an Intergenerational Community Event at the ACC

Creativity is better when it’s shared. Generation Buddies is an intergenerational program designed to bring older adults and youth together for hands‑on activities, good food, and even better conversation. This month’s gathering is a Beaded Craft Night—a relaxed, affordable, and welcoming evening where participants create small keepsakes while building big connections. Whether you’re a first‑time crafter or a seasoned maker, you’ll find friendly faces, patient guidance, and a table full of supplies to spark ideas.

When & Where

  • Date: Monday, November 17, 2025
  • Time: 4:15 PM – 6:00 PM (America/Los_Angeles)
  • Venue: Chestnut Room at ACC, San Carlos, CA

What Is Generation Buddies?

Generation Buddies is a collaboration supported by ACC and the Youth Advisory Council. The program’s mission is simple: create meaningful interactions between generations—through making, sharing, listening, and learning. Each month features a different activity that’s easy to try and satisfying to complete in a single session. This month we’re stringing beads, telling stories, and enjoying a light shared meal that encourages conversation across ages.

About Beaded Craft Night

Beading is the perfect low‑pressure, high‑creativity activity. It offers quick wins (hello, finished bracelet!) and endless possibilities for color, pattern, and symbolism. You’ll find trays of beads in different sizes, spacers, charms, and findings—plus elastic and wire options so you can choose your level of challenge. Volunteers and staff will be on hand to help with design ideas, finishing closures, and making pieces gift‑ready. Expect an easy pace, lots of encouragement, and the satisfying clink of beads meeting the mat.

Why This Night Matters

It’s easy for generations to drift apart, even in the same town. Intergenerational programs like Generation Buddies close the gap by giving people a reason to sit side by side and talk while their hands are busy. The craft becomes a bridge—somewhere between the first bead and the last knot, stories and advice start to flow. Participants consistently report that the best part isn’t the finished bracelet; it’s the connection they feel with someone they might not have met otherwise.

Who Should Attend

  • Youth & older adults who enjoy making things, meeting neighbors, and trying something new.
  • First‑time crafters who want an easy project and friendly help along the way.
  • Return participants who want to reconnect with buddies and build on skills.

What’s Included

  • All beading materials and tools
  • Simple, step‑by‑step guidance
  • A light shared meal to fuel conversation
  • A welcoming, mixed‑age space where everyone belongs

What to Expect

  1. Welcome & Introductions: Check in, grab a seat, and meet your tablemates.
  2. Mini‑Demo & Design Time: Learn basics like measuring, patterning, and finishing knots or clasps.
  3. Crafting: String beads, swap stories, and get individual help as needed.
  4. Shared Meal: Pause for something simple to eat together—because community grows around tables.
  5. Conversations: Celebrate what you made and the people you made it with.

Accessibility & Comfort

The Chestnut Room at ACC is an accessible indoor venue. Tables are arranged to allow movement with mobility devices, and lighting is set for close‑up work. If you use reading glasses, bring them—tiny beads have tiny holes! If you have specific accessibility needs, please let staff know in advance; we want everyone to feel comfortable and included.

Tips for First‑Timers

  • Arrive a few minutes early to choose beads you love—popular colors go fast.
  • Snap a photo of designs that catch your eye; it’s a handy reference while you string.
  • Think of someone you might gift your piece to—designing with a person in mind makes choices easier.

Why We Love This Program

Generation Buddies proves that creativity and connection are universal languages. The beaded bracelet you take home is a reminder that someone listened to your story—and you listened to theirs. That’s the kind of souvenir that lasts.
