An Art Life: Kent Manske & Nanette Wylde
-features the work of two independent artists who often collaborate on conceptual projects. Manske and Wylde share three cats and an art studio in North Fair Oaks, along with Studio 215 at Art Bias in San Carlos.
In 1992, Manske and Wylde founded PreNeo Press as their conceptual and collaborative space. PreNeo Press encompasses a wide range of activities, including independent studio practices, collaborative projects, facilitating art experiences for diverse groups, curating exhibitions, design and publishing, creative interventions, and inviting other artists to create projects in their print studio.
The name PreNeo Press reflects their engagement with art historical time periods and genres: “Pre” meaning before, and “Neo” meaning new. “Press” holds a dual significance for them: it represents their drive to push themselves intellectually and creatively, as well as their identities as printmakers.
Their collaboration is fueled by an ongoing dialogue about the art world and global cultural phenomena. They are deeply interested in interpretation and understanding, making sense of the complex world around them, and communicating ideas, perceptions, and perspectives.
PreNeo Press also encompasses publishing arms Hunger Button Books and Whirligig. Additionally, Scopecreep serves as their news and information platform.
