Favorite Condos – Brittan Heights
I’m told you’re never supposed to play favorites but darn it I have a favorite condo complex! San Carlos CA has as great variation of condos, they span from modern luxury in the downtown to some more affordable, but older looking units spread about the City. However, my favorite condo complex in San Carlos is Brittan Heights.
About Brittan Heights
Located at the top of a ridge where Crestview and Brittan Ave intersect, this condo complex has a Tahoe feel to it. It has large grounds and lots of trees. The amenities in the complex include 4 pools, 2 tennis courts and a clubhouse: sadly no gym facilities. The complex has 433 units; approximately 250 are 2br/2ba, 150 3br/2ba and the remainder are 1/1s or townhouses. Except for the townhouses, all the units are part of 3 story buildings built into hillsides with each unit only occupying a single floor. The parking lots are always on the same level as the mid-level unit, so you must walk downstairs to reach the ground units or upstairs to enter the top units.
The top units have vaulted ceilings which makes them feel larger than the units below, but they tend to get hot in the summer. The ground units can be a bit dark but have the added benefit of sometimes having a gate off their porches and they stay cooler in the summer. The middle units have the advantage of no stairs required to enter them, but you do have people above and below you.
Parking
Each unit comes with an assigned carport and owners are allowed to park another car in non-assigned open parking spots; it’s first come, first serve for these second parking spots. You can add a car charger to your carport at your own cost.
Why my Favorite?
So why is Brittan Heights one of my favorite spots? Well, it’s not for convenience; there are no shops or businesses nearby. I really like these condos because of their surroundings. Plenty of mature trees and vegetation surround the buildings and you have lots of open spaces nearby such as Edgewood Park. Some of the units are located on the edge of a ridge facing an undeveloped canyon offering residents a lush landscape to feast their eyes on. The units themselves have pragmatic floor plans and the primary bedrooms come with ample closet space which is a nice feature.
My favorite units are the 2 and 3 bedroom homes where the owners have opened the kitchen wall to the family room. This wall is already open in the 1-bedroom units. I have seen some gorgeous kitchens all opened up over the years.
I also like the fact that Brittan Heights has a well-run HOA. Some folks accuse them of being overly strict at times, but with 433 units you can’t allow exceptions to the rules because that would result in chaos.
So, if you’re looking for a serene environment with some great natural walking paths nearby, you should call us to visit some homes at Brittan Heights.
