Celebrate Thanksgiving with “The Refuge Family Meal”! If you are opting to have the best pastrami on earth for Thanksgiving, this is the deal for you. The Refuge suggests you to schedule your order in advance, and pick up by Wednesday between 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Refuge San Carlos closes between lunch and dinner from 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM. For $150, you’ll have a meal that can feed 6-8 people, which includes:  2 pounds of their famous Refuge navel pastrami, Russian dressing, Gulden’s spicy brown mustard, a pint of coleslaw, a pint of sauerkraut, one whole loaf of rye bread, 6 slices of Swiss cheese, and pickles.

Nob Hill Catering

If you’re planning a large gathering, Nob Hill Catering delivers with their wide selection of Thanksgiving dishes. Harry Hofbrau in Redwood City is recommended by the locals. The restaurant is famous for its whole roasted turkey, all natural and preservative free. For only $199.50, you get the whole turkey, with stuffing and gravy – enough to serve 20-24 people. Ordering early is recommended, and pick up is on the day before Thanksgiving.

Harry Hofbrau is also open on Thanksgiving Day from 12:00NN to 8:00PM. Their in-house and take-out menu that day is limited to: their famous hand-carved turkey (or baked ham), served with mashed potatoes, homemade turkey stuffing, glazed holiday carrots or steamed vegetables, with a carvery salad, cranberry sauce, turkey gravy and freshly baked dinner roll with butter. The nearest Safeway Grocery Store in San Carlos is the one located in Belmont. They have has fully cooked turkey dinners with stuffing, veggies, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy. Thanksgiving is a time for giving back, and San Carlos is home to many initiatives supporting the community. Whether you’re in need or want to help, here are some key spots offering free meals or food drives:

The Cask

The Cask Wine Bar continues its tradition of embodying the true spirit of Thanksgiving with its annual event, serving free turkey dinners with all the fixings to those in need. On Thanksgiving Day, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, The Cask will open its doors to the community, welcoming anyone who could use a warm meal and holiday cheer.

Each year, this heartfelt initiative serves around 300 families, ensuring no one goes without on this special day. While the event is primarily aimed at supporting struggling families, The Cask emphasizes that everyone is welcome to partake. Volunteers who dedicate their time to making the day a success are also treated to free meals.

Caring Cupboard Thanksgiving Food Drive 

Friends of the ACC (Adult Community Center) has organized a Thanksgiving food drive to ensure everyone has access to a festive meal. They will be distributing the collected food donations to needy families sometime before and/or during Thanksgiving. Distributions are done by the ACC and partners.

Auto Vino’s Thanksgiving Food Drive

Auto Vino also stepped up with a one-day food drive and free meal distribution to needy families a few weeks before Thanksgiving. Distributions are done by Auto Vino and partners.
