It’s become San Carlos’s unofficial neighborhood music festival. This year, “Music in the Park” Concert Series had a record-breaking attendance, as the Burton Park Amphitheater area was packed every Friday afternoon with concert goers occupying almost every patch of grass with picnic blankets, camping chairs, and happy faces.

Every year, from June to August, Music in the Park features free concerts by local bands playing great pop hits from the past three decades, in a walkable free-for-all music festival enjoyed with close friends and neighbors. It’s not a Taylor Swift concert, but everyone still has an awesome time dancing to the live music with friends and the priceless experience is free.

Artist Line Up at Music in the Park

The 2024 series kicked off on June 14 with CARNAVAL, a tribute to the legendary music of Santana. The band’s electrifying performance set the tone for the summer, drawing in a large crowd eager to dance in rhythmic Latin rock beats. Following up on June 21, THE SUN KINGS brought the magic of the Beatles to Burton Park, enchanting the audience with timeless classics and beloved hits. The month closed with NATIVE ELEMENTS on June 28, offering a soulful evening of roots and reggae that transported listeners to a serene, island-like vibe.

July continued the musical journey with an eclectic mix of genres. The CALIFORNIA COWBOYS brought a taste of country music on July 5, followed by POP FICTION on July 12, whose energetic set of non-stop dance hits and sing-alongs from the ’70s to the ’00s had everyone on their feet. On July 19, PRIDE & JOY, known as the Bay Area’s favorite party band, kept the momentum going with their infectious energy and party anthems. The month wrapped up with YOU SHOULD BE DANCING on July 26, a tribute to the Bee Gees that had the park grooving to disco hits.

The whole concert series culminated on August 2 with THE E-TICKET BAND: a night of old-school rock & roll that capped off this summer’s festivities with a bang. If you missed this year’s Music in the Park at Burton Park, there is another local music concert coming up at Harrington Park, called Harringtunes, on August 25, 12:00 – 2:00 PM. It’s a “little bit” smaller than Burton Park, but still the same fun experience. Come early! See you there!
