Unforgettable 5-Day Colorado Mountain Training Trip

June 26 @ 8:00 am - June 30 @ 5:00 pm

Join the Armada of 182s for an Unforgettable 5-Day Colorado Mountain Training Trip!

Each year, an armada of 182s takes off from the Bay Area, bound for an exhilarating mountain flying adventure. This year, we’re heading back to Colorado for an incredible journey through the Rocky Mountains, promising stunning vistas, exciting flight challenges, and plenty of fun on the ground. Whether you’re looking to refine your flying skills or simply enjoy the thrill of flying through some of North America’s most spectacular landscapes, this adventure has something for everyone.

Day One: Bryce Canyon National Park

Our first destination is the breathtaking Bryce Canyon. We’ll depart early to ensure we have ample time to explore this remarkable National Park. Known for its unique geological formations called hoodoos, Bryce Canyon offers incredible hiking trails, panoramic views, and endless opportunities for photography. It’s the perfect way to start our adventure, combining the thrill of flying with the wonder of one of nature’s masterpieces.

Day Two: Into the Heart of the Rockies

From Bryce Canyon, we’ll journey deep into the Rockies, with Eagle, Colorado as our home base for the next two nights. Nestled among some of the best mountain passes, Eagle is an ideal location for honing your mountain flying skills. Just 40 nautical miles northwest lies the famous Leadville Airport, North America’s highest airport at an elevation of 9,927 feet. Flying here is a bucket-list experience, offering both challenging conditions and breathtaking scenery.

Days Three and Four: Exploring Eagle and Beyond

During our stay in Eagle, you’ll have the chance to explore the local area, enjoy the charming town, and take part in advanced flight training. This portion of the trip is designed to help you master advanced avionics, get an airplane-specific checkout, and earn your high-performance endorsement. With a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) on board each plane, you’ll receive personalized instruction and plenty of hands-on experience.

Day Five: Overflying the Grand Canyon to Sedona

On our final day, we’ll embark on an unforgettable flight over the Grand Canyon, en route to Sedona. This leg of the journey promises some of the most awe-inspiring aerial views you’ll ever see, as we soar over one of the world’s natural wonders. We’ll conclude our adventure in Sedona, known for its stunning red rock formations and vibrant arts community. It’s the perfect place to unwind and reflect on the incredible experiences of the past few days.

The Ultimate Flying Experience

This trip is more than just a flight; it’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in the art and science of mountain flying. With two pilots per CFI and aircraft, the daily rate is halved, making this an affordable way to gain invaluable experience. Each plane will have one CFI and two pilots on board, ensuring that everyone gets ample flying time and personalized instruction.

Ground-Based Fun

While flying is the main focus, there’s plenty of ground-based fun to be had as well. From exploring National Parks and quaint mountain towns to enjoying local cuisine and bonding with fellow pilots, this adventure is designed to be a comprehensive and enjoyable experience.
