About San Carlos Childrens Theater

Established in 1990, San Carlos Children’s Theater has emerged as a pioneering and beloved force in youth theater. Over the years, we have proudly produced more than 180 shows, trained over 12,500 budding young actors, and captivated the hearts of over 25,000 Bay Area families. Our mission at SCCT is to provide students aged 4-18 with enriching theatrical experiences that cultivate creative and critical thinking skills, nurture leadership qualities, instill self-confidence, and foster teamwork within a supportive and safe environment.

At SCCT, we emphasize that the journey is as significant as the destination, valuing the process of growth and self-discovery for our students. Through after-school drama classes, musical theater camps, specialized workshops, and full-scale productions, we aim to help performers explore their individuality while mastering the fundamentals of performing arts and technical production. Our goal is to inspire a lifelong love for the arts.

Dedicated to community outreach, SCCT extends exceptional theater training to students across the Peninsula. In addition to our independent performing arts programs, we collaborate with public schools in San Carlos, Redwood City, and Belmont to offer after-school theater programs. Committed to giving back, we host various free family activities such as movie nights, scavenger hunts, and virtual game nights. Furthermore, we actively participate in local community events, including San Carlos Hometown Days, San Carlos Farmers Market, and Belmont’s Save the Music festival.

As a non-profit organization, SCCT is led by an Executive Operations Director and Executive Artistic Director, supported by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. Our skilled staff includes experienced drama teaching artists, vocal directors, choreographers, as well as a part-time Technical Director, Costume Designer, Set Designer, Accountant, and Marketing Manager. Encouraging student involvement in theater leadership, we offer opportunities such as joining SCCT’s Youth Advisory Board, serving as junior assistant directors/choreographers, technical crew assistants, or class/camp aides.
