SUMMARY:Spread Joy This Season: Join Our Holiday Toy Drive 2025! - Join Us in this fun event!
DESCRIPTION:Spread Joy This Season: Join Our Holiday Toy Drive!\nThe holiday season is finally here—a time filled with warmth\, generosity\, and the simple magic of giving. As families gather\, lights twinkle on rooftops\, and communities come together to celebrate\, it’s also the perfect moment to extend that spirit of kindness to children and teens who need it most. This year\, we are thrilled to launch our Toy Drive\, a heartfelt effort to make sure every child experiences a bit of holiday joy\, no matter their circumstances. \nIn collaboration with One Life\, we hope to bring joy and love to many kids this year. Together\, we aim to reach families throughout our community and beyond\, making sure that children of all ages feel seen\, remembered\, and celebrated during the holidays. With your help\, we can transform a simple gift into a powerful reminder that they matter—that there are people thinking of them and cheering them on. \nHow You Can Make a Difference\nWe invite everyone to donate new\, unopened toys and gift cards for kids and teens this holiday season! Whether it’s a soft plush toy for a little one\, a board game that brings the whole family together\, or a gift card that gives a teenager the chance to choose something special\, your contribution can brighten someone’s entire holiday. \nAll donated items will go directly to children and teens in our community who may not otherwise receive gifts this season. Even a small gesture can make a tremendous impact\, and your donation—no matter the size—is a powerful expression of compassion. \nWhere to Donate: Come Visit the Youth Center\nGiving is easy\, and we’ve made drop-off convenient for everyone. Simply come on down to the Youth Center (1001 Chestnut St.\, M–F\, 9am–6pm) with a new\, unopened toy to donate\, now until December 15th! Our team will be there to welcome you\, assist with drop-off\, and share in the excitement of supporting this meaningful cause. \nThe Drop Off location: San Carlos Youth Center serves as the heart of our Toy Drive\, and every year it becomes a lively spot filled with generous community members who want to make a difference. Whether you’re swinging by after school\, stopping in during your lunch break\, or making a special trip with family or friends\, the process is quick\, simple\, and filled with holiday cheer. \nWhy Your Gift Matters\nThe holidays can be a challenging time for families facing financial struggles. For many parents\, purchasing gifts—even the smallest ones—may not be possible. Your donation helps lift that burden and creates a moment of magic for a child who may otherwise feel left out during the season of giving. \nEvery toy and gift card carries more than just material value—it carries love\, hope\, and joy. A child receiving your gift may remember it for years to come\, not just because of what the item is\, but because someone cared enough to give it. \nWhat to Donate\nLooking for ideas? Here are some great options that children and teens tend to love: \n\nAction figures\, dolls\, and stuffed animals\nArts and crafts kits\nBoard games and puzzles\nSports balls and outdoor toys\nScience kits and building sets\nBooks for all ages\nGift cards for teens (Target\, Amazon\, movie theaters\, and local stores)\n\nRemember: all donations must be new and unopened to ensure every child receives something fresh\, clean\, and safe. \nHelp Us Spread the Word\nOne of the most powerful ways to support the Toy Drive—besides donating—is simply telling others about it. Share the details with friends\, family\, coworkers\, neighbors\, or local groups you’re part of. Social media posts\, quick messages\, and personal invitations can help reach even more people who are eager to give back during the holidays. \nYou can also direct anyone interested to our website for more information: \nWebsite: www.cityofsancarlos.org/yac \nThere\, visitors can find details on programs\, events\, and volunteer opportunities available at the Youth Center year-round. \nNeed More Information? We’re Here to Help\nIf you have any questions about what to donate\, where to go\, or how to get involved\, feel free to reach out. Our team is always happy to assist and provide guidance. \nPhone: (650) 802-4122 \nWhether you’re calling to ask a quick question or looking for ways to get more deeply involved in community programs\, we’re just one call away. \nLet’s Make This Holiday Season Brighter—Together\nEvery year\, our community shows incredible generosity\, reminding us how powerful it is when people come together for a shared purpose. This holiday season\, we invite you to be part of that tradition. Your donation—big or small—can bring a smile to a child’s face\, lighten the load for a parent\, and spread kindness in a world that needs it. \nFrom now until December 15th\, join us in making a meaningful impact. Stop by the San Carlos Youth Center\, drop off your new and unopened toys or gift cards\, and help us fill this season with warmth\, joy\, and connection. \nTogether\, we can make this holiday season unforgettable for the children and teens who need it most. Thank you in advance for your kindness\, generosity\, and holiday spirit. \n  \n\nSee other interesting events in San Carlos. SUMMARY:Release Through Movement at Art Bias: A Journey to Mind–Body Connection
DESCRIPTION:Release Through Movement at Art Bias: A Journey to Mind–Body Connection\nDiscover the transformative power of movement and expression at Release Through Movement at Art Bias\, a unique dance/movement therapy workshop that invites you to reconnect with your body\, release emotions\, and explore your inner world through the art of movement. \nAbout This Event\nThis inspiring workshop is designed to help participants discover how dance and movement can become tools for emotional release and self-awareness. Guided by Nathaniel Silveira-Pyzik\, a board-certified dance/movement therapist and licensed counselor\, the session offers a supportive space for anyone looking to reconnect with their body and explore how physical movement can promote healing and growth. \nThroughout the session\, Nathaniel will guide participants through a gentle movement warm-up to help them tune in to their bodies and access inner movement resources for energy modulation and self-exploration. Using expressive dance and mindful motion\, he will demonstrate how even the simplest movements can help individuals express emotions\, relieve stress\, and discover new ways of understanding themselves. \nThe workshop encourages exploration through music\, guided imagery\, and movement prompts\, all designed to foster creativity\, reflection\, and release. Near the end of the class\, participants will be given time for quiet reflection—a moment to process and absorb the experience. Reflection is completely optional\, allowing each person to engage at their own comfort level. \n \nNo Experience Needed—Just an Open Mind\nOne of the most welcoming aspects of Release Through Movement is that no prior dance or movement experience is required. Participants are encouraged to move in ways that feel natural to them—there’s no right or wrong way to express yourself. Every activity can be adapted for individuals with physical impairments or disabilities\, ensuring inclusivity for all who attend. \nPersonal disclosure is never expected\, and while self-reflection is encouraged\, it is not required. The goal of the workshop is to create a safe\, supportive environment where everyone can engage at their own pace. \nMore Than Just Movement\nWhile this class is educational and immersive\, it is not a substitute for therapy. However\, many participants find the experience deeply restorative. The benefits often include stress relief\, improved mind–body awareness\, and greater ease in navigating emotions\, daily activities\, and life transitions. \nThis workshop is an opportunity to step away from the rush of everyday life and return to the simplicity of moving\, breathing\, and feeling present. Through movement\, you may find new ways to understand yourself and release what no longer serves you. \nAbout the Facilitator\nNathaniel Silveira-Pyzik\, LPCC\, BC-DMT\, brings a wealth of experience and compassion to his work. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist\, he supports adults\, teens\, and couples through various mental health and relational challenges. \nBased in San Carlos\, California\, Nathaniel has presented and led workshops on the transformative power of dance/movement therapy for mental health\, trauma healing\, and nervous system regulation. In 2022\, he facilitated Move & Release\, a six-week class at the Yoga Health Center in partnership with Ziru Dance Company and One Life Counseling Center. A proud member of the American Dance Therapy Association\, Nathaniel integrates clinical expertise with creative\, body-based approaches that empower people to heal and grow through movement. \nEvent Details\n📅 Date & Time: Friday\, November 14\, 2025 | 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM (GMT-08:00)📍 Location: Art Bias\, Studio 114\, 1700 Industrial Road\, San Carlos\, CA \nJoin this enriching evening of movement\, mindfulness\, and creative exploration. SUMMARY:Join Us for a Free E-Waste Recycling & Shredding Event 2025 at Hiller Aviation Museum!
DESCRIPTION:E-Waste Recycling & Shredding\nIn today’s digital age\, technology advances rapidly\, and with it comes the challenge of responsibly disposing of old electronics. Fortunately\, there’s a convenient way to clear out your old devices safely and responsibly\, thanks to an upcoming free event for the community. Mark your calendar for the E-Waste Recycling & Shredding event happening right here under the big Hiller Aviation Museum sign! Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of this valuable opportunity. \n  \nWhat’s Happening at the E-Waste Recycling & Shredding Event?\nThe Golden State Hauling and Demolition truck will be under the big Hiller Aviation Museum sign on event day\, ready to collect all your unwanted electronic devices and offer shredding services. This free event has been organized with the support of key community sponsors: the Rotary Club of Peninsula Starlight\, the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce\, Hiller Aviation Museum\, and Jessica Govea\, the owner of Golden State Hauling and Demolition. Their collective goal is to provide a simple\, safe\, and environmentally friendly solution for e-waste disposal. \nThis is your chance to safely dispose of old phones\, laptops\, tablets\, and other electronic devices that are sitting around collecting dust or taking up space in your home. Please keep in mind that full-size appliances\, such as refrigerators or washing machines\, will not be accepted at this event. \nWhy E-Waste Recycling Matters\nElectronic waste\, or e-waste\, includes any discarded electronic devices\, from smartphones and laptops to old printers and televisions. When improperly disposed of\, e-waste can release harmful substances into the environment\, impacting soil\, air\, and water quality. Recycling e-waste properly not only protects the environment but also helps recover valuable materials like gold\, silver\, and copper\, which can be reused in new products. \nHowever\, while e-waste recycling is essential\, it’s also important to remember that personal devices often contain sensitive information. Whether you have old phones\, computers\, or tablets\, it’s crucial to ensure your personal data is protected. \nProtect Your Data Before Recycling\nBefore bringing your devices to the event\, make sure to delete all sensitive data. This step is crucial for safeguarding your personal information. For devices like smartphones\, laptops\, and tablets\, perform a factory reset\, which typically deletes all personal data and restores the device to its original settings. On computers\, this may involve erasing your hard drive and reinstalling the operating system. If you’re unsure how to do this\, consult the device’s user manual or ask a tech-savvy friend or family member for help. Remember\, while this event provides a fantastic service\, taking personal responsibility for data deletion is essential. \nOn-Site Shredding Services Available – Limited to 3 Banker Boxes Per Person\nIn addition to e-waste recycling\, the event will also offer shredding services\, allowing attendees to securely dispose of personal documents. Each person is limited to three banker boxes of documents\, a fair limit to ensure that everyone in the community can take advantage of this free service. Keep in mind that the shred service will operate on a first-come\, first-served basis and will close once the truck is full. So\, if you have sensitive documents that need safe disposal\, plan to arrive early. \nDocument shredding is an excellent way to protect yourself against identity theft. Shredding eliminates any possibility of unauthorized access to sensitive information by destroying physical records beyond recognition. Whether you’re disposing of old bank statements\, tax documents\, or other personal records\, shredding ensures that these papers are handled with security in mind. \nHow to Participate\nParticipating in this free E-Waste Recycling & Shredding event is easy! Just bring your unwanted electronics and up to three banker boxes of documents to the designated area at Hiller Aviation Museum on the event day. Dick previously worked in the restaurant and food service industries. He and two high school classmates managed and operated 30 Cask ‘n Cleaver restaurants in Southern California from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. \nDick then became a partner and owner of Todd’s Foods\, a company that supplies restaurants with soups\, sauces\, and salad dressings. After the Heinz Company acquired Todd’s in 2001\, Dick stayed for three years before deciding to leave because he was considered too entrepreneurial for a public corporation. \nBob Mullen\, co-founder of Auto Vino\, and founder of Woodside Vineyards\, began producing wine from little more than one acre of grapes at the original Winery on Kings Mountain Road in 1960. The winery became bonded or licensed to sell Bob’s creations three years later. \nBob\, who grew up in Youngstown\, Ohio\, never had a glass of wine until he moved to California in the 1950s. He worked for Armstrong World Industries when he was transferred from Chicago to San Francisco to become the Western Regional Manager. \nIn California\, there were 121 wineries (now 4\,200) when Bob began his business\, and through the years\, Woodside Vineyards has developed a good reputation for its fine wines. Our vineyard workers manage\, harvest\, and produce wine from over 35 vineyards on private estates in Woodside and the surrounding area. \nToday\, Buff and his eldest son\, Phil Giurlani\, the Chief Operating Officer\, manages the day-to-day operations at Auto Vino\, including venue bookings for private and corporate events\, Friday lunch service\, and weekend wine tastings. \nDaisey G.\, our designated greeter for Friday lunches and Weekend Wine Tastings\, is a purebred Yellow Labrador Retriever who exudes love\, even to those who are afraid of dogs\, adores people\, and her tail wags with delight when new visitors arrive. Her charming demeanor will quickly win you over. \n \n\nEvent Source: Auto Vino Official Facebook Page\nMore Community Events at Main Events Calendar | See All Events at City Calendar

SUMMARY:Beautiful Beaded Craft Night at the ACC Generation Buddies Series
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Beaded Craft Night at Generation Buddies\, an Intergenerational Community Event at the ACC\nCreativity is better when it’s shared. Generation Buddies is an intergenerational program designed to bring older adults and youth together for hands‑on activities\, good food\, and even better conversation. This month’s gathering is a Beaded Craft Night—a relaxed\, affordable\, and welcoming evening where participants create small keepsakes while building big connections. Whether you’re a first‑time crafter or a seasoned maker\, you’ll find friendly faces\, patient guidance\, and a table full of supplies to spark ideas. \nWhen & Where\n\nDate: Monday\, November 17\, 2025\nTime: 4:15 PM – 6:00 PM (America/Los_Angeles)\nVenue: Chestnut Room at ACC\, San Carlos\, CA\nAdmission: $5.00\n\nWhat Is Generation Buddies?\nGeneration Buddies is a collaboration supported by ACC and the Youth Advisory Council. The program’s mission is simple: create meaningful interactions between generations—through making\, sharing\, listening\, and learning. Each month features a different activity that’s easy to try and satisfying to complete in a single session. This month we’re stringing beads\, telling stories\, and enjoying a light shared meal that encourages conversation across ages. \n  \nPhoto by Sigmund \n\n  \nAbout Beaded Craft Night\nBeading is the perfect low‑pressure\, high‑creativity activity. It offers quick wins (hello\, finished bracelet!) and endless possibilities for color\, pattern\, and symbolism. You’ll find trays of beads in different sizes\, spacers\, charms\, and findings—plus elastic and wire options so you can choose your level of challenge. Volunteers and staff will be on hand to help with design ideas\, finishing closures\, and making pieces gift‑ready. Expect an easy pace\, lots of encouragement\, and the satisfying clink of beads meeting the mat. \nWhy This Night Matters\nIt’s easy for generations to drift apart\, even in the same town. Intergenerational programs like Generation Buddies close the gap by giving people a reason to sit side by side and talk while their hands are busy. The craft becomes a bridge—somewhere between the first bead and the last knot\, stories and advice start to flow. Participants consistently report that the best part isn’t the finished bracelet; it’s the connection they feel with someone they might not have met otherwise. \nWho Should Attend\n\nYouth & older adults who enjoy making things\, meeting neighbors\, and trying something new.\nFirst‑time crafters who want an easy project and friendly help along the way.\nReturn participants who want to reconnect with buddies and build on skills.\n\nWhat’s Included\n\nAll beading materials and tools\nSimple\, step‑by‑step guidance\nA light shared meal to fuel conversation\nA welcoming\, mixed‑age space where everyone belongs\n\nWhat to Expect\n\nWelcome & Introductions: Check in\, grab a seat\, and meet your tablemates.\nMini‑Demo & Design Time: Learn basics like measuring\, patterning\, and finishing knots or clasps.\nCrafting: String beads\, swap stories\, and get individual help as needed.\nShared Meal: Pause for something simple to eat together—because community grows around tables.\nConversations: Celebrate what you made and the people you made it with.\n\nAccessibility & Comfort\nThe Chestnut Room at ACC is an accessible indoor venue. Tables are arranged to allow movement with mobility devices\, and lighting is set for close‑up work. If you use reading glasses\, bring them—tiny beads have tiny holes! If you have specific accessibility needs\, please let staff know in advance; we want everyone to feel comfortable and included. \nTips for First‑Timers\n\nArrive a few minutes early to choose beads you love—popular colors go fast.\nSnap a photo of designs that catch your eye; it’s a handy reference while you string.\nThink of someone you might gift your piece to—designing with a person in mind makes choices easier.\n\n  \nPhoto by Sigmund \n\nFAQ\nDo I need experience? Not at all. Staff and volunteers will guide you from the first bead to the final knot. \nIs everything included? Yes—your $5 admission covers all materials and the shared meal. \nCan I bring a friend or family member? Absolutely. This is a mixed‑age program\, and companions are welcome to register. \nWhat if I finish early? Start a second small project or help your tablemate choose colors—community is a team sport. \nIs this a drop‑in? Space is limited; please register in advance using the enroll link. \nRegister\nUse the “Enroll Now” button on the registration page to secure your spot. We keep the group small so everyone gets attention—early sign‑ups are recommended. \nRegistration Link \nWhy We Love This Program\nGeneration Buddies proves that creativity and connection are universal languages. The beaded bracelet you take home is a reminder that someone listened to your story—and you listened to theirs. That’s the kind of souvenir that lasts. \n  \n \n \n\n  \nSee other interesting events in San Carlos. SUMMARY:The Exciting San Carlos Mural Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Four Murals\, One Mural Walking Tour\, Plenty Of Stories\nSan Carlos has a growing collection of public art\, but most of us only catch glimpses while driving by or walking dogs on autopilot. San Carlos Walking Mural Tour\, hosted by Art Bias\, puts these large-scale works at the center of a relaxed\, guided morning. \nOn Wednesday\, November 19\, 2025\, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm\, you can join a small group for a 1.5‑mile walk that connects four local murals with the people who designed and painted them. Instead of just thinking “Oh\, I love that one\,” you get to hear how it came to be. \nThe tour begins at Art Bias and ends downtown\, stitching together the industrial edges and the heart of San Carlos through color\, pattern\, and story. \nWhat The Morning Looks Like\nThe experience is structured but not rushed. You start at Art Bias for a brief studio visit with one of the mural artists. It is a quick chance to see sketches\, early drafts\, tools\, and the kind of reference images that never make it onto the wall. From there\, the group heads out on foot to visit four murals: \n\nLove More (Industrial Arts District)\nHorizon Light (Bianchini’s)\nBlossoms International Friendship Mural (Sister City Lane)\nSan Carlos Centennial Mural (Laurel Street)\n\nAt each stop\, artists share the backstory: why this wall\, what the original concept looked like\, how the design evolved\, and what it took to execute the piece at scale. When an artist is not available for a particular mural\, a representative from the San Carlos Community Foundation steps in to talk about the commissioning process and community involvement. \nThe route ends at Frank D. Harrington Park on Laurel Street\, a familiar downtown stop that feels different once you have seen the artwork through the artists’ eyes. \nWhy Take A Guided Mural Tour?\nYes\, you could drive around and look at the murals on your own. But having the artists along changes the experience: \n\nYou learn how long each piece took and what weather\, logistics\, or surprises popped up along the way.\nYou hear how community members responded in real time\, from honks and waves to kids declaring favorites.\nYou get context about how each mural fits into San Carlos’s broader public art efforts.\n\nPublic art can sometimes feel like it just “appeared” one day. This tour pulls back the curtain a bit\, showing how much planning\, collaboration\, and problem-solving sits behind each bright surface. \n  \nCentennial Mural with Artists \n\nWho This Tour Is Great For\nThis event works well for a mix of people: \n\nResidents who have passed these murals for years and want to hear the deeper story.\nTeachers\, parents\, and caregivers looking for fresh ways to talk about art\, community\, and civic pride with kids.\nCreative professionals and students interested in large-scale work\, public art commissions\, or place-based design.\nVisitors or newer neighbors who want a gentle introduction to San Carlos beyond the typical restaurant list.\n\nThe walking pace is leisurely\, covering about a mile and a half over two and a half hours. Comfortable shoes and layers are your friends. Expect a mix of sidewalk walking\, short street crossings\, and standing while listening. \nPractical Details\n\nDate & time: Wednesday\, November 19\, 2025\, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm\nStarting point: Art Bias\, 1700 Industrial Road\, San Carlos\, CA 94070\nEnd point: Frank D. Harrington Park on Laurel Street in downtown San Carlos\nDistance: Approximately 1.5 miles at an easy\, conversational pace\nCost: Free in this listing; registration is managed via the organizer’s ticketing partner\n\nBecause space is limited\, advance registration is important. Once you secure a spot through the ticket link\, you will receive any extra details about where to meet\, what to bring\, and how to plan your return from the end point. \n  \nHorizon Light Mural \n\n\nTips For An Enjoyable Tour\nA few small choices can make the morning more comfortable: \n\nWear shoes you would be happy walking in for a couple of hours.\nBring water and\, if needed\, a small snack for a mid-tour refuel.\nConsider a hat and sunscreen\, even in cooler weather; murals often live on sun-exposed walls.\nIf you enjoy taking photos\, make sure your phone is charged and consider arriving a little early to snap a few shots at Art Bias before the tour begins.\n\nThe goal is not to hustle from mural to mural but to create space for looking\, listening\, and conversation. You are welcome to ask questions about process\, materials\, permits\, or anything else you have always wondered when walking by a large wall of color. \nAbout The Artists And Partners\nThe tour features several muralists whose work has become part of the visual fabric of San Carlos. Each brings a distinct style and story\, from bold\, graphic statements to layered\, more illustrative approaches. When schedules align\, you will meet them in person. When they cannot be there\, the San Carlos Community Foundation offers insight into how community advocates\, donors\, and city partners helped each project move from idea to reality. \nArt Bias serves as both the literal starting point and the broader backdrop. SUMMARY:Harringtunes Concerts 2025: With Decaf Jazz\, The Horse’s Mac\, and 19th Avenue Roadwork
DESCRIPTION:Harringtunes Concert 2025: Live Music + Open Chess Downtown\nEnjoy fall concerts on Laurel Street and a side of strategy at Frank D. Harrington Park. Settle in for live sets by local performers while two permanent chess boards—courtesy of the Parks and Recreation Foundation of San Carlos—are stocked with pieces and ready for friendly showdowns. Bring your own snacks and drinks\, or plan a dinner stop at your favorite Laurel Street restaurant after the music winds down. \nChess boards and pieces are available first-come\, first-served. Interested in sponsoring or performing at an upcoming Harringtunes concert? Reach out to Recreation Supervisor Lauren Burd at (650) 802-4127 or lburd@cityofsancarlos.org. \nWhat’s the Vibe?\nIt’s simple: live music\, open-air chess\, and an easygoing neighborhood crowd. These sets are designed for lingering—pick up a pastry\, snag some shade\, and let the soundtrack carry you through the afternoon (or early evening). If your opening move is usually “grab a latte\,” consider this your green light. If you’re more of a “find a picnic table” type\, we’ve got room for that too. \nAbout the artists\nDecaf Jazz (Sept. 7\, 2025: Sunday)\nDecaf Jazz brews a smooth blend of standards and easygoing grooves—strong enough to perk up your afternoon\, but mellow enough for conversation at the chess tables nearby. Expect unhurried tempos\, warm melodies\, and the kind of city-park soundtrack that pairs well with an iced coffee and a sunny bench. \nThe Horse’s Mac (Sept. 28\, 2025: Sunday)\nThe Horse’s Mac brings jangly guitars\, friendly hooks\, and a dash of indie swagger—think toe-taps and head-bobs as your pawns inch forward. They’re neighborhood favorites for a reason: upbeat\, unfussy\, and perfectly suited to a casual downtown Saturday. \n19th Avenue Roadwork (Nov. 20\, 2025: Thursday)\n19th Avenue Roadwork lays down a tight lane of rhythm and a few surprise detours; no hard hats required. They mix rock and rootsy turns with a wink\, making rush hour feel like the best part of the day. \n— \nLooking for a way to introduce a friend to the scene? This is an effortless entry point: approachable tunes\, zero fuss\, and a no-ticket format that welcomes folks to wander in and stay as long as they like. \nChess\, but make it social\nThe two permanent boards at Frank D. Harrington Park are stocked with pieces during the show\, so you can trade riffs and rooks at the same time. It’s first-come\, first-served\, and games tend to move quickly—when a set wraps\, a new match usually starts. If you’re brand-new to chess\, come anyway. You’ll pick up the basics fast by watching neighbors play a few rounds. \nQuick tips for casual play\n\nKeep games friendly and under 20 minutes so others can rotate in.\nSnap a photo of the end position if you’re mid-game at set break.\nBring a light jacket; the breeze can pick up on Laurel Street.\nPack a water bottle. The park has shade\, but music + chess can be surprisingly focused!\n\nFood & nearby stops\nOne of the perks of downtown sets is proximity to favorites on Laurel Street. Build your own mini-itinerary: \n\nCoffee first\, music second. Or flip it.\nSplit time between the stage area and the chess tables.\nGrab dinner right after the encore. It’s the perfect handoff from day to night.\n\nAccessibility & comfort\nFrank D. Harrington Park is a flat\, open space with benches and room to stand or bring a compact chair. Restrooms are available at nearby businesses\, and curb ramps make it easy to navigate around the block. If you need a quieter moment\, step off to the edges of the park and drift back when you’re ready. \nSponsorships & performers\nLocal businesses\, school groups\, and emerging artists are invited to get involved. Sponsorship helps keep the series free and lively; performers add color to the lineup across genres. To learn more\, contact Recreation Supervisor Lauren Burd at (650) 802-4127 or lburd@cityofsancarlos.org. \nWhat to bring\n\nA small chair or picnic blanket\nA light sweater for the evening breeze\nYour chess A-game (or curiosity)\nSnacks and a refillable bottle\nFriends\, family\, neighbors—this is an inclusive\, community-forward hang\n\nFAQs\nDo I need tickets? No—these shows are free and open to the public.\nCan I bring kids? Absolutely. The format is relaxed\, and the park is a low-pressure setting.\nCan I bring my dog? Leashed pups who play well with others are welcome.\nWhat if I don’t play chess? Listen in\, then jump into a game when you’re ready. Someone will happily explain the basics. \nThe takeaway\nCome for the live music\, stay for the camaraderie. Laurel Street shines in the fall\, and Frank D. Harrington Park turns into a friendly crossroads of melodies and chess moves. Whether you’re here for a full set or catching a few songs between errands\, this is an easy\, memorable way to spend part of your day. \nPhotos\nTaken from the official website of Harringtunes Concerts by the City of San Carlos \n \n \n \n \n\n  \n \nSponsored by the San Carlos Parks & Recreation Department. \n  \n\nSee other interesting events in San Carlos. SUMMARY:Free Telescope Viewing At Crestview Park: Star Parties by the San Mateo Astronomical Society
DESCRIPTION:Free Telescope Viewing: Ready to meet a couple of true giants?\nJoin us this Saturday\, November 22 at Crestview Park in San Carlos for a relaxed night under the stars. Saturn will be showing off early\, and Jupiter will rise to the occasion later in the evening around 10:40pm. \nWe’ll have several telescopes set up for everyone to explore not just these two showstoppers\, but also nebulae\, galaxies\, and star clusters that are a real crowd-pleaser. \nA quick favor that keeps the stargazing sharp:\nPlease don’t drive into the park with your headlights on. DESCRIPTION:Pre-Loved Fashion Pop Up!!!: A Celebration of Style\, Sustainability\, and Creativity in San Carlos\nIf you’re searching for a unique way to spend your Sunday\, mark your calendar now—because something special is coming to town. Friends With Denim invites you to come shop Pre-Loved clothing + art! This standout event combines sustainability\, creativity\, and community spirit in a way that feels both refreshing and deeply inspiring. Whether you’re passionate about fashion\, art\, or simply finding new ways to shop consciously\, the Pre-Loved Fashion Pop Up!!! is an experience you won’t want to miss. \nAbout this Event\nFor one unforgettable day\, Friends With Denim are popping up in San Carlos! Known for their commitment to sustainable fashion and their eye for stylish pre-loved garments\, their pop-up activations always draw a crowd. This time\, the excitement is even bigger as they bring something truly special to the neighborhood. \nIf you’re visiting the San Carlos Farmers Market on Sunday the 23rd\, make sure to take a short and scenic detour up San Carlos Avenue. Just a small turn from all the fresh produce and artisan vendors\, you’ll discover a treasure trove of fashion gems waiting to be explored—and maybe even a new favorite piece that you didn’t know you needed. \nBut the event isn’t just about clothes. It’s also about celebrating creativity\, local talent\, and the art of reimagining materials in ways that delight and surprise. \nSustainable Style Meets Local Artistry\nOne of the highlights of this pop-up is the collaboration with Molly Finn\, a beloved local artist known for her inventive and eye-catching creations. Molly has a gift for transforming everyday materials into expressive\, meaningful works of art\, often incorporating denim—a fabric that has become iconic not only in fashion but also in sustainable design. \nDenim is especially dear to our hearts\, and Molly has taken that love and crafted an array of interesting and creative pieces made from denim and other upcycled materials. These one-of-a-kind artworks will be on display for the public’s viewing\, offering visitors a chance to see how discarded fabrics can be reborn through imagination and craftsmanship. \nHer pieces inject joy\, nostalgia\, and innovation into the world of sustainable art. Whether it’s a sculpture\, a textile collage\, a functional accessory\, or a purely decorative piece\, Molly’s work invites everyone to look at fashion—and waste—in a new way. \nA Curated Collection of Pre-Loved Clothing\nOf course\, the heart of the event lies in the racks upon racks of curated pre-loved clothing. Friends With Denim has built a reputation for having an exceptional eye for style\, choosing items that are high-quality\, timeless\, and ready for their next chapter in someone else’s wardrobe. \nBuying pre-loved is more than a trend. It’s a lifestyle—a commitment to reducing waste\, minimizing overconsumption\, and honoring garments that still have plenty of life left in them. Whether you’re searching for denim staples\, cozy sweaters\, retro jackets\, or unique statement pieces you won’t find in retail stores\, there will be something for everyone. \nShopping secondhand also allows you to express your personal style with individuality and flair. No two wardrobes look the same when they’re filled with pre-loved treasures. At this event\, you can enjoy the thrill of discovery while knowing that your purchases support sustainability and local creatives. \nCommunity\, Creativity\, and Connection\nEvents like these do more than just provide clothes or art—they bring people together. The pop-up creates a space where shoppers\, artists\, and locals can connect\, share stories\, and celebrate the movement toward more mindful living. \nFriends With Denim hopes each visitor leaves not only with a great find but also with a renewed appreciation for community-driven fashion and the beauty of reimagined materials. The combination of Molly’s art and the curated collection of pre-loved clothing perfectly captures the spirit of creative sustainability. \nDate & Location\nThe event is set for: \nSun\, 23 Nov\, 202510:00 AM to 01:00 PM (GMT-08:00) \nat1213 San Carlos Ave1213 San Carlos Avenue\, San Carlos\, United States \nWhether you’re a long-time thrift lover\, an art enthusiast\, or simply curious\, this three-hour celebration is worth the visit.
