This fall\, artists of every experience level are invited to explore new techniques\, refine their talents\, and express their creativity during the WORKSHOP: Landscapes & Portraits – Fall Series at Art Bias in San Carlos\, California. \nRunning from Monday\, August 10\, 2026\, through Monday\, October 5\, 2026\, this exciting nine-week workshop is designed for anyone who wants to strengthen their artistic abilities while learning from an experienced instructor. Led by accomplished artist Ray Mendieta\, the class provides expert instruction\, personalized coaching\, and a welcoming atmosphere where creativity can flourish. \nUnlike traditional art classes that focus on a single medium\, this workshop is a multi-medium class\, giving participants the freedom to work with the materials they enjoy most. Whether your passion lies in oil painting\, acrylics\, charcoal\, or pastels\, you are encouraged to bring your preferred medium and favorite tools. This flexible approach allows every student to develop their own artistic voice while receiving guidance tailored to their individual goals. \nOne of the greatest strengths of the Landscapes & Portraits Fall Series is its accessibility. Beginner\, intermediate\, and advanced artists are all welcome\, making it an ideal opportunity for anyone who wants to improve their skills. Beginners can build a strong artistic foundation while learning essential techniques\, intermediate artists can expand their knowledge and confidence\, and experienced creators can refine their style with professional coaching and constructive feedback. \nStudents also have the freedom to choose the subjects that inspire them most. Whether you are fascinated by breathtaking natural landscapes\, expressive portraits\, or another artistic challenge\, Ray Mendieta provides individualized instruction that helps you achieve your creative vision. Instead of following a rigid curriculum\, participants receive coaching based on the projects they are personally passionate about\, making every class engaging and rewarding. \nTo ensure a comfortable learning environment\, easels and tables are provided\, allowing students to focus on creating rather than worrying about equipment. Participants simply need to bring their preferred art supplies and tools\, making it easy to settle into each session and begin working immediately. \nThe workshop offers two convenient class schedules\, making it easier to fit creativity into your weekly routine. Class #1 meets every Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.\, while Class #2 is held Mondays from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Both sessions run from August 10 through October 5\, covering the complete nine-week Fall Series. Students can select the schedule that best fits their availability while enjoying the same high-quality instruction and supportive atmosphere. \nEnrollment for the complete nine-week series is $350\, representing excellent value for artists seeking consistent instruction and personal growth. The extended format allows participants to steadily improve their skills\, receive ongoing feedback\, and complete meaningful artistic projects throughout the course. \nFor those who would like to experience the class before committing to the full series\, the workshop also offers flexible attendance options. Drop-ins are welcome for anyone interested in trying the class or making up a missed session. Walk-ins are accepted for $40 per class\, providing a convenient way to experience Ray Mendieta’s teaching style without enrolling in the complete program. Participants interested in drop-in sessions are encouraged to text Ray directly to arrange attendance and discuss any questions regarding art supplies or materials. \nBeyond technical instruction\, this workshop celebrates the importance of creativity in everyday life. Art provides an opportunity to slow down\, observe the world with fresh eyes\, and communicate emotions that words often cannot express. Whether painting peaceful landscapes or capturing the personality of a portrait\, students will gain not only artistic skills but also greater confidence in their creative abilities. \nRay Mendieta brings both experience and genuine passion to every class\, creating an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable experimenting\, learning\, and growing. His personalized coaching ensures that each participant receives guidance suited to their experience level\, making every session productive and inspiring. \nRay shares his heartfelt philosophy with prospective students: “I look forward to working with you and continuing the creativity and beauty that this world so desperately needs in these times.” His words perfectly capture the purpose of the workshop—not simply to teach artistic techniques\, but to encourage people to create beauty\, find inspiration\, and contribute something meaningful through their art. \nThe workshop takes place at Art Bias\, located at 1700 Industrial Road\, San Carlos\, CA 94070. Known for supporting artists and creative education\, Art Bias provides an inviting space where students can focus on learning\, collaborate with fellow artists\, and become part of a thriving creative community. \nIf you have been searching for the perfect opportunity to develop your artistic skills\, explore new mediums\, or reconnect with your passion for creating\, the Landscapes & Portraits Fall Series offers an outstanding experience. SUMMARY:Bilingual Storytime / Hora de Cuentos Bilingüe: A Fun Spanish and English Experience for Young Children
DESCRIPTION:Bilingual Storytime / Hora de Cuentos Bilingüe: A Fun Spanish and English Experience for Young Children\nFamilies looking for an engaging and educational activity for young children can look forward to Bilingual Storytime / Hora de Cuentos Bilingüe on Thursday\, September 3\, 2026\, in San Carlos. This family-friendly program brings together the joy of storytelling\, music\, singing\, play\, and creativity in both Spanish and English. \nTaking place from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM\, the event is designed especially for young children and their families. It offers a wonderful opportunity for children to experience two languages in a welcoming and entertaining environment while spending meaningful time with parents\, caregivers\, and other families in the community. \nDiscover the Joy of Bilingual Storytelling\nBilingual Storytime / Hora de Cuentos Bilingüe gives children the chance to listen to stories presented in both Spanish and English. Storytime is more than simply reading a book. For young children\, stories can encourage imagination\, develop listening skills\, introduce new vocabulary\, and help them understand different ways of communicating. \nBy presenting stories in two languages\, this program creates an enjoyable environment where children can hear Spanish and English naturally. Families who speak Spanish at home can reinforce their children’s language skills\, while English-speaking families can introduce their children to Spanish through songs\, stories\, and interactive activities. \nThe program is intended for children through age 5\, making it particularly appropriate for babies\, toddlers\, preschoolers\, and young children who are beginning to develop their language and social skills. \nStories\, Music\, Singing\, and Play\nOne of the highlights of this bilingual program is its interactive approach. Children will not simply sit and listen. They will have opportunities to listen\, sing\, and play along as the stories and music unfold. \nMusic can be an especially effective way for young children to become comfortable with a new language. Songs use repetition\, rhythm\, and familiar patterns that make words easier to remember. When children sing along\, they can practice sounds and vocabulary while having fun. \nThe combination of storytelling and music also helps keep young children engaged. Whether they already understand Spanish\, are learning it for the first time\, or simply enjoy participating in group activities\, children can find something exciting in this family-friendly experience. \nA Family Activity Everyone Can Enjoy\nThe event is designed to bring families together. Parents and caregivers can participate alongside their children\, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. Sharing stories and songs as a family can create lasting memories while encouraging children to develop a positive attitude toward reading\, language\, and learning. \nFor families in San Carlos\, this is also a great opportunity to connect with other parents and children in the community. Group storytime allows children to practice social interaction in a comfortable setting while adults can enjoy watching their little ones explore\, participate\, and discover new things. \nAfter the storytime program\, families are invited to stay for a fun craft activity. The craft portion adds another creative dimension to the event and gives children an opportunity to express themselves through hands-on activities. Combining stories with crafts can help children connect what they hear with something they can create. \nWhy Bilingual Activities Matter\nExposure to more than one language at an early age can make language learning a natural and enjoyable part of childhood. Programs such as Hora de Cuentos Bilingüe introduce children to Spanish and English through experiences that feel like play rather than formal instruction. \nBilingual activities can also expose children to different cultures\, traditions\, words\, sounds\, and perspectives. When families participate together\, children can see that learning languages is something positive and enjoyable. \nMost importantly\, events like this encourage children to develop a lifelong love of stories. Books\, songs\, and creative activities can inspire curiosity and help young learners become more confident communicators. \nEvent Details\nEvent: Bilingual Storytime / Hora de Cuentos Bilingüe\nDate: Thursday\, September 3\, 2026\nTime: 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM\nLocation: San Carlos\nRecommended Age: Children through age 5 \nFamilies should be aware that capacity limits may apply\, so attendance may be subject to available space. Adults must also be accompanied by a child. \nMake Storytime Part of Your Family’s Week\nIf you are searching for a fun activity for young children in San Carlos\, Bilingual Storytime / Hora de Cuentos Bilingüe is a wonderful choice. With bilingual stories\, music\, singing\, play\, and a creative craft activity afterward\, the program offers a well-rounded experience that combines learning and family fun. \nMark Thursday\, September 3\, 2026\, on your calendar and bring your little ones for a morning filled with stories\, music\, creativity\, and discovery. Whether your family speaks Spanish\, English\, or both\, this bilingual storytime provides a welcoming opportunity for children to learn\, participate\, and enjoy the magic of storytelling together. \n  \n  \n  \n\n  \nSee other interesting events in San Carlos. SUMMARY:Baby Bounce & Grown-Up Gathering: A Fun and Social Storytime for Babies in San Carlos
DESCRIPTION:Baby Bounce & Grown-Up Gathering: A Fun and Social Storytime for Babies in San Carlos\nParents and caregivers looking for a welcoming activity for their little ones can join Baby Bounce & Grown-Up Gathering in San Carlos on Friday\, September 4\, 2026. Designed specifically for newborns and babies up to 18 months old\, this special storytime combines early learning\, music\, movement\, play\, and social connection for both babies and their grown-ups. \nThe program runs from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM and provides a relaxed environment where babies can enjoy age-appropriate activities while parents and caregivers have an opportunity to connect with others in the community. \nA Storytime Designed for Babies\nUnlike traditional storytime programs designed for older children\, Baby Bounce & Grown-Up Gathering focuses on the unique needs of newborns and young babies. The program centers around parent/caregiver-child interactions\, making it an excellent opportunity for adults to participate directly in their baby’s early learning experience. \nThe storytime portion takes place from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM. During this time\, families can enjoy a variety of activities specifically chosen to capture babies’ attention and encourage interaction. \nParticipants will be invited to join in with rhymes\, lap bounces\, singing\, and a story. These simple activities can be entertaining for babies while also encouraging communication\, movement\, listening\, and bonding between children and their caregivers. \nRhymes\, Singing\, and Lap Bounces\nRhymes and songs are wonderful ways to introduce babies to the rhythm and sounds of language. Repetition helps babies become familiar with different sounds and patterns while the musical quality of nursery rhymes can make learning enjoyable. \nLap bounces add movement to the experience. As caregivers gently bounce their babies along with songs or rhymes\, children experience rhythm and physical interaction at the same time. These activities can also create meaningful bonding moments between babies and the adults who care for them. \nSinging together provides another opportunity for parents and caregivers to interact with their babies. Even before babies can speak\, they are listening closely to voices\, sounds\, and patterns. A group storytime gives families a fun setting to practice these interactions. \nA Storytime Followed by a Baby Playdate\nThe fun does not end when the storytime portion finishes. From 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM\, the program transitions into a 30-minute playdate. \nDuring the playdate\, babies can explore age-appropriate toys and interact with other children. This provides a gentle introduction to group play while allowing babies to experience a different environment outside the home. \nAt the same time\, parents and caregivers can socialize with other grown-ups. For new parents especially\, opportunities to meet other families can be valuable. The playdate creates a relaxed setting where adults can chat\, share experiences\, and build connections while keeping their babies nearby. \nDrop In for the Time That Works Best\nFamilies do not necessarily have to stay for the entire hour. The program allows participants to drop in for the entire event or whichever portion suits their baby best. \nThis flexibility can be especially helpful for families with newborns and young babies\, whose schedules can change quickly. Whether your baby enjoys the full storytime and playdate or is more comfortable attending for only part of the program\, families can participate according to their child’s needs. \nAn Opportunity for Early Learning and Connection\nEarly childhood experiences can play an important role in a child’s development. Activities involving songs\, rhymes\, stories\, movement\, and interaction can introduce babies to language while helping caregivers discover enjoyable ways to engage with their children. \nMore importantly\, Baby Bounce & Grown-Up Gathering provides an opportunity for families to spend quality time together. The focus is not on formal learning but on creating positive experiences through simple activities that babies can enjoy. \nThe event is conducted in English and is listed as a Storytime program. Although the description specifically recommends newborns and babies up to 18 months\, the event information also lists it as suitable for preschoolers ages 0–5. \nEvent Details\nEvent: Baby Bounce & Grown-Up Gathering\nDate: Friday\, September 4\, 2026\nTime: 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM\nLocation: San Carlos\nStorytime: 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM\nBaby Playdate: 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM\nLanguage: English\nType: Storytime\nLocation Details: 2nd Floor Community Room\nRecommended: Newborns and babies up to 18 months\nCapacity: Capacity limits may apply \nMore Dates to Enjoy Baby Bounce & Grown-Up Gathering\nFamilies who cannot attend on September 4 will have several additional opportunities to participate. The program is also offered on September 11\, September 18\, and September 25\, followed by additional dates throughout October and November. \nThe October sessions are scheduled for October 2\, October 9\, October 16\, October 23\, and October 30\, while November sessions include November 6 and November 13. Each listed session runs from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. \nMake Storytime Part of Your Baby’s Week\nBaby Bounce & Grown-Up Gathering is more than a simple storytime. Instead\, F1 will begin once the sun has set\, allowing attendees to enjoy the movie under the evening sky. \nFor anyone planning to attend\, preparation is simple. Whether you prefer stretching out on a blanket or relaxing in a lawn chair\, the outdoor setting is designed to make the experience casual and enjoyable. \nWatch F1 Under the Stars\nThe featured movie\, F1\, is an exciting choice for an outdoor screening. With its high-speed racing theme\, dramatic competition\, and adrenaline-filled atmosphere\, the film is especially appealing to audiences who enjoy action and motorsports. \nWatching a racing movie outdoors can also create a unique experience. Instead of sitting in a conventional cinema\, guests can enjoy the film while spending time with friends\, family\, and other members of the San Carlos community. The combination of a big-screen movie and an outdoor evening makes Box Office at Burton a memorable way to spend a Saturday night. \nBecause the movie starts after sunset\, attendees have some time to arrive\, choose their preferred viewing location\, arrange their chairs or blankets\, and enjoy their snacks before the feature begins. Arriving early can also help guests get settled comfortably before the screening starts. \nA Community-Focused Evening\nEvents like Box Office at Burton provide more than entertainment. They create opportunities for neighbors\, families\, and friends to gather in a welcoming community environment. Outdoor movie nights can be particularly enjoyable for families looking for an easy and relaxed weekend activity. \nThe event is also a great opportunity to take a break from the usual routine. Rather than spending Saturday evening at home\, attendees can head to San Carlos\, bring their favorite movie-night essentials\, and enjoy an entertaining film in an outdoor setting. \nFor families\, couples\, groups of friends\, and movie enthusiasts\, the event offers something simple yet enjoyable: a chance to watch a popular film while spending quality time together. \nPlan Your Visit\nIf you are planning to attend Box Office at Burton: F1\, remember the important details. SUMMARY:Capture the Light: Experience Plein Air Painting on the Peninsula with John Barrows - Join Us in this exciting event!
DESCRIPTION:Capture the Light: Experience Plein Air Painting on the Peninsula with John Barrows\nArt lovers and aspiring painters have a wonderful opportunity to take their creativity outdoors during Capture the Light: Plein Air Painting on the Peninsula\, an immersive three-day workshop led by award-winning artist John Barrows\, SWA. Hosted by Art Bias in San Carlos\, this special weekend experience is designed for artists who want to strengthen their outdoor painting skills\, understand changing light\, and develop a more confident artistic vision. \nTaking place from September 11 through September 13\, 2026\, the workshop combines instruction\, demonstration\, hands-on practice\, and personalized coaching in a beautiful setting on the San Francisco Peninsula. With the stunning surroundings of Crystal Springs Reservoir as inspiration\, participants will learn how to simplify the landscape and create paintings that capture the character and atmosphere of the outdoors. \nDiscover the Art of Painting Outdoors\nPlein air painting is the practice of creating artwork directly from the landscape rather than working exclusively from photographs or inside a studio. While painting outdoors can be inspiring\, it can also present challenges. Natural light changes quickly\, weather conditions shift\, and there is often more visual information than an artist knows how to handle. \nThis workshop is designed to make the process less overwhelming. \nJohn Barrows will guide participants through a practical\, step-by-step approach to outdoor painting. Instead of becoming lost in unnecessary details\, students will learn how to identify the essential elements of a scene and translate them into a strong and expressive painting. \nThe goal is not simply to reproduce everything that appears in front of the artist. Instead\, participants will learn how to make thoughtful artistic decisions and develop paintings that reflect their individual perspective. \nLearn From Award-Winning Artist John Barrows\nA major highlight of the workshop is the opportunity to learn directly from John Barrows\, SWA. His experience and approach to landscape painting will give participants valuable insight into the creative and technical decisions involved in successful plein air work. \nOne of the weekend’s highlights will be a live oil painting demonstration on Saturday morning. Participants will be able to observe John’s process from beginning to end\, gaining a closer understanding of how an experienced artist approaches composition\, values\, color\, and changing outdoor conditions. \nFor artists looking to improve their technique\, seeing the decision-making process unfold in real time can be an especially valuable learning experience. \nMaster the Power of the Notan\nAnother important focus of the workshop is the Notan sketch\, a fundamental tool for establishing value structure and composition before beginning a painting. \nParticipants will learn how a quick Notan study can help simplify a complex landscape into essential light and dark patterns. This allows artists to establish a strong composition before committing to the canvas. \nLearning this skill can be particularly useful when painting outdoors\, where conditions can change rapidly. A well-planned value structure gives artists a solid foundation and helps them stay focused even as the light and landscape shift. \nPersonalized Small-Group Coaching\nOne of the most valuable features of this workshop is its intentionally small class size. The program is limited to just eight students\, allowing participants to receive personalized attention and one-on-one guidance from the instructor. \nA small group creates an environment where artists can ask questions\, discuss their challenges\, receive constructive feedback\, and focus on areas where they want to improve. Whether participants are relatively new to plein air painting or already have outdoor painting experience\, the individualized instruction can help them take their work to the next level. \nThe workshop also provides an opportunity to connect with other artists who share an interest in landscape painting and outdoor creativity. \nTake Your Learning Beyond the Workshop\nThe experience does not end when the weekend is over. Participants will receive a practical reference booklet filled with actionable advice designed to support their continued artistic development. \nThe resource can serve as a useful guide for future outdoor painting sessions or studio practice\, allowing students to revisit the concepts introduced during the workshop and continue building their skills. \nThis combination of hands-on instruction\, demonstration\, personalized coaching\, and take-home resources makes the workshop a valuable experience for artists seeking meaningful improvement. \nA Creative Weekend at Art Bias\nHosted at Art Bias\, located at 1700 Industrial Road in San Carlos\, the workshop offers participants the chance to combine artistic learning with the beauty of the San Francisco Peninsula. \nThe three-day experience is scheduled for Friday\, September 11 through Sunday\, September 13\, 2026\, with the event running through Sunday afternoon. The workshop fee is $375. \nFor anyone interested in landscape painting\, this is an opportunity to step outside the traditional studio environment\, observe nature more carefully\, and learn how to capture fleeting moments of light and atmosphere. \nWhether you are an experienced painter or an artist eager to develop stronger outdoor skills\, Capture the Light: Plein Air Painting on the Peninsula with John Barrows promises an inspiring weekend filled with creativity\, learning\, and artistic exploration. \nEvent Details\nEvent: Capture the Light: Plein Air Painting on the Peninsula\nArtist: John Barrows\, SWA\nDate: September 11–13\, 2026\nLocation: Art Bias\, 1700 Industrial Road\, San Carlos\, California\nFeatured Setting: Crystal Springs Reservoir\nClass Size: Limited to 8 students\nWorkshop Fee: $375\nMedium: Oil painting demonstration and plein air landscape painting \nPack your brushes\, open your eyes to the changing light\, and prepare to experience the San Francisco Peninsula from an artist’s perspective. This September\, discover how simplifying the landscape can lead to stronger compositions\, more confident paintings\, and a deeper connection with the world around you. \n  \n  \n  \n\n  \nSee other interesting events in San Carlos. SUMMARY:Make a Difference in San Carlos: Join Day of Service on September 12\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:Make a Difference in San Carlos: Join Day of Service on September 12\, 2026\nCommunity spirit comes alive in San Carlos this September as residents are invited to roll up their sleeves and make a meaningful difference during Day of Service on September 12\, 2026. This special volunteer event offers two wonderful opportunities to help beautify local parks\, strengthen connections among neighbors\, and create a lasting positive impact on the community. \nWhether you have a green thumb\, enjoy spending time outdoors\, or simply want to give back to the place you call home\, Day of Service is a perfect opportunity to get involved. Volunteers will be able to choose between two projects: planting two new trees at Highlands Park or creating a native garden at Vista Park. Both projects are designed to enhance the natural beauty of San Carlos while contributing to healthier and more welcoming public spaces. \nPlant New Trees at Highlands Park\nOne of the volunteer opportunities will take place at Highlands Park\, where participants will help plant two new trees. Trees are an important part of any community. They provide shade\, improve the appearance of public spaces\, support local wildlife\, and contribute to a healthier environment. \nPlanting a tree may seem like a simple task\, but its impact can last for decades. The trees planted during Day of Service will become part of the landscape and can be enjoyed by residents\, families\, and visitors for years to come. Volunteers will have the rewarding experience of knowing that their hands helped create something that will continue benefiting the community long after the event has ended. \nThis project is also a great way for neighbors to work together outdoors. From preparing the planting area to placing the trees and helping them get established\, every helping hand can make a difference. \nCreate a Native Garden at Vista Park\nThe second volunteer opportunity will take place at Vista Park\, where participants will help create a native garden. Native plants are an excellent addition to community landscapes because they are naturally adapted to the local environment and can provide valuable habitat and food sources for birds\, butterflies\, bees\, and other wildlife. \nA native garden can also add beauty and character to the park while encouraging greater appreciation for the natural environment. By participating in this project\, volunteers will help establish a space that can continue to grow and flourish as part of San Carlos’s community landscape. \nThe garden project is a wonderful opportunity for people who enjoy gardening or simply want to learn more about plants and sustainable landscaping. Most importantly\, it gives volunteers the chance to work side by side with their neighbors toward a shared goal. \nConnect With Your Community\nDay of Service is about more than planting trees and creating gardens. It is also about bringing people together. Community volunteer events provide an opportunity to meet neighbors\, build friendships\, and develop a stronger connection to the place where we live. \nSometimes\, making a difference begins with something as simple as showing up and offering a helping hand. By volunteering for a few hours\, participants can contribute to projects that improve shared public spaces while enjoying a positive experience with others in the community. \nFor registered volunteers\, coffee and donuts will be available\, providing a welcoming way to start the morning and connect with fellow participants before or during the service activities. \nRegister for Day of Service\nIf you would like to participate\, make sure to register for a volunteer shift through Better Impact. Registration is required\, and volunteers can select the opportunity that best suits them. \nThe event will take place on September 12\, 2026\, at Highlands Park and Vista Park in San Carlos. Whether you choose to help plant trees or create a native garden\, your contribution will be valuable. \nDay of Service is a reminder that strong communities are built by people who care enough to get involved. Every tree planted\, every native plant added\, and every hour volunteered helps make San Carlos a more beautiful\, connected\, and environmentally friendly place. \nGather your neighbors\, invite your friends\, and come lend a hand. On September 12\, take part in Day of Service and help create a lasting impact in San Carlos—one project\, one garden\, and one tree at a time. \nEvent Details \nEvent: Day of Service\nDate: September 12\, 2026\nLocations: Highlands Park & Vista Park\, San Carlos\nActivities: Planting two new trees and creating a native garden\nVolunteer Registration: Better Impact\nVolunteer Refreshments: Coffee and donuts for registered volunteers \nCome volunteer\, meet your neighbors\, enjoy the outdoors\, and help make San Carlos even better! \n  \n  \n  \n\n  \nSee other interesting events in San Carlos. On Saturday\, September 12\, and Sunday\, September 13\, 2026\, the public is invited to experience this unique new space and explore the rich artistic traditions of India. \nThe two-day muditā grand opening will take place from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM each day at 653 Laurel Street\, San Carlos. Admission is free and open to the public\, making this a wonderful opportunity for families\, art enthusiasts\, cultural explorers\, and anyone curious about India’s extraordinary artistic heritage. \nA New Space for Indian Art and Cultural Discovery\nmuditā offers visitors an opportunity to explore the evolution of Indian art from antiquity to contemporary practice. Rather than presenting Indian art simply as something from the past\, the space considers how artistic traditions continue to influence identity\, memory\, and cultural expression today. \nIndia has one of the world’s most diverse and enduring artistic histories\, shaped by centuries of religious traditions\, regional cultures\, craftsmanship\, storytelling\, architecture\, textiles\, painting\, sculpture\, and contemporary creative practices. At muditā\, visitors can discover how these different influences have developed over time and how they remain meaningful in modern life. \nThe collection provides a window into the histories and living traditions represented within the store. Guests can take their time exploring the pieces\, learning about their cultural significance\, and considering the connections between historical art and contemporary identity. \nConnecting Art\, Identity\, and Cultural Memory\nOne of the most meaningful aspects of muditā is its focus on the relationship between art and cultural memory. Artistic traditions often carry stories from one generation to another\, preserving ideas\, values\, symbols\, and experiences even as communities move across borders. \nFor members of the Indian diaspora\, these traditions can provide a powerful connection to heritage and identity. For visitors encountering Indian art for the first time\, they offer an opportunity to learn about a culture whose artistic legacy spans thousands of years. \nBy bringing these stories to San Carlos\, muditā creates a space where history and contemporary culture can meet. The result is more than a collection of beautiful objects—it is an invitation to understand the people\, traditions\, and stories behind them. \nCelebrate with Chai and Light Snacks\nThe grand opening will also offer a welcoming atmosphere for guests to gather and connect. Light snacks and chai will be served\, adding a warm cultural touch to the weekend celebration. \nVisitors can enjoy a cup of chai while exploring the collection\, talking with others\, and taking in the atmosphere of this new Laurel Street destination. Whether you are deeply familiar with Indian culture or simply interested in discovering something new\, the grand opening provides an inviting setting for conversation and exploration. \nA Free Weekend Event for the San Carlos Community\nWith free admission and two full days of programming\, the muditā grand opening is an event that makes cultural exploration accessible to everyone. Residents of San Carlos and surrounding Bay Area communities can stop by during either day and experience the space at their own pace. \nArt lovers may appreciate the opportunity to examine the collection\, while families and curious visitors can use the experience as a way to learn about India’s artistic heritage. The event can also serve as a meaningful gathering point for members of the Indian community and the broader San Carlos community. \nThe opening weekend is an exciting introduction to what muditā hopes to offer as a new Indian art and cultural space. Its emphasis on history\, contemporary practice\, identity\, and cultural memory creates an experience that extends beyond traditional ideas of an art collection. \nMark Your Calendar for muditā\nIf you are looking for an enriching cultural experience in San Carlos this September\, make plans to visit muditā during its grand opening weekend. \nEvent: muditā Grand Opening\nDates: Saturday\, September 12 and Sunday\, September 13\, 2026\nTime: 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM each day\nLocation: 653 Laurel Street\, San Carlos\nAdmission: Free and open to the public\nInstagram: @mudita_sancarlos \nThe grand opening of muditā offers a chance to discover Indian art\, learn about living cultural traditions\, and explore the ways art connects generations\, communities\, and identities. SUMMARY:San Carlos Nurses to Explore Oncology Nursing Research at September Dinner Program
DESCRIPTION:San Carlos Nurses to Explore Oncology Nursing Research at September Dinner Program\nOn Wednesday\, September 16\, 2026\, healthcare professionals in San Carlos will have an opportunity to connect\, learn\, and share ideas at the SFBAONS Sept Dinner Program: “I Have a Question… Now What?” Getting Started in Oncology Nursing Research. The three-hour educational and networking event will take place from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Impasto by Terun\, located at 661 El Camino Real\, San Carlos\, United States. The program will be conducted in English and is designed to welcome healthcare providers interested in oncology nursing research\, evidence-based practice\, and professional development. \nHosted as an engaging dinner program\, the event combines education\, meaningful conversation\, networking\, and an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals. For SFBAONS chapter members\, attendance is free with the code SFBAONS26 entered on the ticket page. Non-members can attend for $30 and may sign up for membership through the Oncology Nursing Society membership application. With its combination of professional education and personal connection\, the evening offers a valuable setting for nurses and other healthcare providers to expand their knowledge while building relationships with colleagues. \nThe featured presentation\, “I Have a Question… Now What?”: Getting Started in Oncology Nursing Research\, will be presented by Anna Oh\, PhD\, MPH\, RN. Dr. Oh serves as Director of Academic Nursing & Patient Care Research at the Center for Education\, Research\, and Professional Development at Stanford Health Care. Her presentation will focus on an important starting point for nurses who encounter clinical and practice-based questions and want to transform those questions into meaningful research or improvement projects. \nClinical questions can often become the foundation for research\, quality improvement\, and evidence-based practice. However\, knowing where to begin can sometimes feel challenging. This presentation will provide an overview of how oncology nurses can identify relevant questions\, develop them into research or improvement projects\, and explore practical pathways for becoming involved in research. Attendees will learn about opportunities across clinical\, academic\, quality improvement\, and industry settings\, giving participants a broader understanding of how research can become part of their professional journey. \nAnother important focus of the presentation will be implicit bias. Participants will examine how unconscious assumptions can influence the questions researchers ask\, the populations included in studies\, and the way findings are interpreted and applied to oncology nursing practice. This discussion is particularly valuable because thoughtful research requires careful consideration of how perspectives and assumptions can affect the research process. By recognizing these influences\, healthcare professionals can work toward asking better questions and applying evidence more responsibly. \nThe evening begins with a Welcome Reception and Vendor Fair from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. During this first hour\, attendees can connect with fellow healthcare professionals while learning about the latest updates from industry sponsors. These sponsors support SFBAONS members\, educational programs\, and scholarships. Guests are encouraged to visit all participating vendors for a chance to enter a raffle featuring multiple prizes\, adding a fun and interactive element to the networking portion of the event. \nFrom 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM\, attendees will enjoy the Dinner Presentation. Guests can have their meal while listening to the featured speaker and then participate in a question-and-answer session. This format provides an opportunity to engage directly with the presentation\, clarify ideas\, and discuss topics relevant to oncology nursing practice. Attendees should also remember to complete the required evaluation after the presentation to receive their continuing education certificate. \nThe program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing\, Provider Number 13612\, for one contact hour. This makes the event especially useful for professionals seeking educational opportunities that contribute to continuing professional development while also encouraging meaningful engagement with current issues in oncology nursing. \nFor professionals considering their first research project\, the program can serve as an encouraging reminder that valuable ideas often begin with everyday experiences in patient care. A question noticed during a clinical encounter\, a recurring challenge in practice\, or an opportunity to improve outcomes can become the starting point for investigation. By learning how to develop those observations\, participants can take steps toward contributing to oncology care. The evening therefore offers not only information\, but inspiration for nurses who want to make a difference. \nWhether you are an experienced oncology nurse\, a healthcare professional exploring research for the first time\, or someone interested in evidence-based practice\, the SFBAONS September Dinner Program offers an informative and welcoming evening. Set in San Carlos\, the event brings together education\, dinner\, networking\, and professional growth in one convenient program. \nMark your calendar for September 16\, 2026\, and consider joining colleagues for an evening focused on turning questions into possibilities. The event promises practical insights\, valuable connections\, and a closer look at how oncology nursing research can begin with something as simple and important as asking the right question. \n  \n  \n  \n\n  \nSee other interesting events in San Carlos. SUMMARY:Dive Under the Stars at Box Office at Burton: The Little Mermaid Sing-Along - Enjoy with your family!
DESCRIPTION:Dive Under the Stars at Box Office at Burton: The Little Mermaid Sing-Along\nGet ready for a magical evening under the stars as Box Office at Burton returns to San Carlos on September 19\, 2026\, with a special presentation of The Little Mermaid Sing-Along. Families\, friends\, and movie lovers are invited to bring their blankets\, chairs\, and favorite gadgets and gizmos for an unforgettable outdoor movie night at Burton Park. \nPresented by the San Carlos Parks & Recreation Department in collaboration with the Children’s Theater\, this family-friendly event offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy a beloved Disney story while spending time with the community. With music\, laughter\, and plenty of under-the-sea adventure\, this special screening promises to be an evening the whole family can enjoy. \nA Magical Night Under the Stars\nThere is something special about watching a movie outdoors. Instead of sitting inside a theater\, families can relax on blankets or lawn chairs while enjoying the fresh evening air and the beautiful atmosphere of Burton Park. Add a beloved musical like The Little Mermaid\, and the result is a perfect night of entertainment for children and adults alike. \nThe movie will begin at 7:10 p.m.\, giving attendees plenty of time to arrive\, find a comfortable spot\, and settle in before the adventure begins. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs so they can enjoy the movie comfortably from the park grounds. \nAs the sun goes down and the stars come out\, audiences can join Ariel and her friends on a spectacular journey beneath the sea. Because this is a sing-along presentation\, guests can join in with some of the movie’s most memorable musical moments. \nBe Part of Ariel’s World\nThe Little Mermaid has captured the imagination of generations with its memorable characters\, colorful underwater world\, and unforgettable songs. The story follows Ariel\, a curious young mermaid who dreams of discovering the world beyond the sea. \nDuring this outdoor screening\, audiences can follow Ariel’s journey as she explores a world very different from her own\, meets new friends\, faces unexpected challenges\, and learns important lessons about courage\, dreams\, family\, and following your heart. \nThe sing-along format adds an extra element of fun. Rather than simply watching the movie\, families can become part of the experience by singing along to familiar songs and enjoying the story together. \nFor children\, it can be an exciting introduction to the magic of outdoor movies. For parents and grandparents\, it may bring back fond memories of enjoying The Little Mermaid themselves. \nA Family-Friendly Community Event\nBox Office at Burton is more than just a movie night. It is also an opportunity for the San Carlos community to come together and enjoy a shared experience. \nCommunity events like this give families a chance to spend quality time together away from the usual routines of daily life. Children can enjoy the excitement of an outdoor movie\, while adults can relax and connect with friends and neighbors. \nThe collaboration between the San Carlos Parks & Recreation Department and the Children’s Theater also highlights the importance of providing engaging cultural and recreational activities for local families. Events that combine entertainment and community participation help make San Carlos a welcoming place for residents of all ages. \nWhat to Bring\nPlanning to attend? Make your evening more comfortable by bringing a few essentials. A blanket is ideal for relaxing on the grass\, while lawn chairs can provide additional comfort for parents and adults. You may also want to bring your favorite movie-night snacks and drinks to enjoy during the screening. \nMost importantly\, bring your enthusiasm and your singing voice!
