It’s a chance to build skills that matter far beyond the classroom: recognizing the signs of mental distress\, offering support in the moment\, and pointing friends and peers toward resources that can really help. \nWhy “Be Sensitive\, Be Brave”?\nThe name says it all. Join us at Harrington Park for the unveiling of the Centennial Mural—a community‑driven masterpiece that honors our city’s past\, present\, and future. \nWhen & Where\n\nDate: Thursday\, September 25\, 2025\nTime: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM\nVenue: Laurel Street at Harrington Park\, San Carlos\, CA\nCost: Free and open to the public\n\nWhat’s Happening\nExpect a lively mix of community pride and artistic flair as we cut the ribbon on the new mural. Highlights include: \n\nMeet the mural’s artists and hear their creative vision\nRemarks from local leaders and community groups\nRecognition of the organizations and volunteers who made it possible\nPlenty of photo‑ops with a colorful new backdrop\n\n\nPhoto of San Carlos Centennial Mural from Scot Scoop \n\nAbout the Mural\nSan Carlos has finished creating its largest mural ever: a 6\,000-square-foot timeline along the 700 block of Laurel Street to commemorate its centennial year (1925-2025). The design\, led by artists Shari Bryant\, Deborah Shea\, and Amber Smith\, combines local landmarks\, cultural icons\, and community memories into a graphic narrative approved by the Parks\, Recreation & Culture Commission. \nPainting began in July 2025\, with work scheduled in blocks and during specific hours so pedestrians can still access the street. Community input and historians helped shape the themes\, and students are involved via mentorship programs.
