SUMMARY:Grand Ribbon Cutting for the San Carlos Centennial Mural by Art Bias
DESCRIPTION:Ribbon Cutting for the San Carlos Centennial Mural\nA splash of color\, a dash of history\, and one giant ribbon. San Carlos is officially 100 years young\, and what better way to celebrate than with a brand‑new public art piece? Join us at Harrington Park for the unveiling of the Centennial Mural—a community‑driven masterpiece that honors our city’s past\, present\, and future. \nWhen & Where\n\nDate: Thursday\, September 25\, 2025\nTime: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM\nVenue: Laurel Street at Harrington Park\, San Carlos\, CA\nCost: Free and open to the public\n\nWhat’s Happening\nExpect a lively mix of community pride and artistic flair as we cut the ribbon on the new mural. Highlights include: \n\nMeet the mural’s artists and hear their creative vision\nRemarks from local leaders and community groups\nRecognition of the organizations and volunteers who made it possible\nPlenty of photo‑ops with a colorful new backdrop\n\n\nPhoto of San Carlos Centennial Mural from Scot Scoop \n\nAbout the Mural\nSan Carlos has finished creating its largest mural ever: a 6\,000-square-foot timeline along the 700 block of Laurel Street to commemorate its centennial year (1925-2025). The design\, led by artists Shari Bryant\, Deborah Shea\, and Amber Smith\, combines local landmarks\, cultural icons\, and community memories into a graphic narrative approved by the Parks\, Recreation & Culture Commission. \nPainting began in July 2025\, with work scheduled in blocks and during specific hours so pedestrians can still access the street. Community input and historians helped shape the themes\, and students are involved via mentorship programs. While the mural is temporary (to remain until Laurel Street’s next construction phase)\, it serves as an amazing public art piece that celebrates San Carlos’s history and brings people together. \nArt Bias San Carlos Centennial Mural Updates\, halfway done. Photo from Art Bias. \nCommunity Involvement\nThis project was made possible thanks to the support of local organizations\, sponsors\, and countless hours of volunteer work. The ribbon cutting is just as much a thank‑you party as it is an unveiling ceremony. \nWho Should Come\n\nFamilies looking for a fun\, free outing\nLocal history buffs and art lovers\nAnyone who wants to celebrate San Carlos turning 100 in style\n\nFAQ\nDo I need tickets? Nope. This event is free and open to all. \nIs there parking? Street parking is available near Harrington Park\, but walking or biking is encouraged. \nCan I bring kids? Absolutely. It’s a family‑friendly celebration. \nWhat if it rains? The show must go on! Bring an umbrella just in case. \nCelebrate With Us\nThe Centennial only comes around once. Be part of the celebration\, support local artists\, and help us mark this milestone in true San Carlos style.
