Additionally\, he serves as the editor\, art director\, and cover artist for the EXPLORER and FLIGHT Comic Anthologies\, and is the creator of the webcomic Copper. His debut graphic novel\, Daisy Kutter: The Last Train\, received a YALSA Best Books for Young Adults Award in 2005. In 2012\, he showcased his artistic talent by illustrating the covers for the Harry Potter 15th Anniversary Edition paperbacks. \nComing from a 4th-generation Japanese-American background\, Kazu’s family history includes his great grandfather founding the oldest Japanese grocery store in the US\, known as The Katagiri Store (established in 1907) in New York City.
